This brew pours a dark brownish-amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel malt and mild hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, caramel and lightly bitter hops. The finish is sweet with a grainy malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can:   Deep mahogany, large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Nutty nose, a bit bready, thankfully not really grainy or soily.   Nice malty background on the tongue, nutty, pale breadiness, clean, with a nice smooth and hefty mouthfeel.   I am not much a fan of Alts, but this beer is great!   So many have this grainy and/or soily/earthy aspect.   This doesn’t.   Its clean, pale breadiness, nutty, with a semi-sweet maltiness.   Great stuff!   Thanks Bill for this unexpected gem!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(draught) deep town with dark tan creamy head. Nose of fresh grain, pumpernickel, turbinado sugar, a bit roasty and cracked black pepper. Taste of butter, fresh grain, light caramel, and very light citrus hops. Unique and very interesting for the style. One of the better I’ve had but certainly not traditional.
