Alexandria, VA - Shiny copper, thin fizzy off white head. Nose up front was nice with soft touches of roasted caramel, toast, milk chocolate and citrus. Good balanced flavors of toasty caramel malt and earthy citrus hops. Light bodied, light carbonation, balanced, soft bittersweet finish. It wasn’t half bad...

A nice amber beer with a tan head with good lacing. An aroma of hops and malt. A medium bodied beer that is slightly fizzy while cold but gets better as it warms. It has a nice bittering finish.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Deep red with a good sized head. Sweet malt aroma. Distinct amber taste with some fruit and faint hops. Decent enough coming from a chain microbrew, but not worth coming back for.

Tap - For $2.20 a mug this is what I expected. I fairly watery, bland uninspired ale served in a frozen mug. Very drinkable, with better flavor than domestics, and at this price who can complain.

Tap in Ft Meyers. Clear, amber color. Thin white head. I could almost smell some beer in it, and it tasted a bit like a farm (wheat, grain, even some hops). A hint of sweetness in the finish. Best beer from Hops.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On draught: Clear amber body with a small, fleeting, white head. Diacetyl, caramel, and light hops in the aroma. Again the aroma is mild at best. Taste is dry, stale, caramel, a hint of pale grains, and a touch of hops. Light bodied, watery, moderate carbonation, finishes watery and with a very subtle hint of hops. Again, I have to work at it to grasp these flavors.

On tap: Buttery caramel and funky hop aroma. Light transparent amber with an off-white head. Funky caramel flavors up front with a light citrus hop finish. Flavors just seem a little off.

I really like this beer. It has a beautiful color. The beer does not have much of a head, and it goes down very fast and smooth. It is not very thick. Almost like a light beer. It has a fruity and roast flavor to it. But it does leave a slight bitter after taste. Definately my favorite beer served by Hops.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2005 Draught at the Pembroke Pines, FL location. Reddish amber. Roasty malt aroma. Dryish, soapy and flowery with clean mouthfeel and solid malt back bone. Fruity and medium bodied with a resiny finish where flowery hops linger.
Unspectacular, but solid.
