COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A golden hued, medium bodied, lager style beer, it is a refreshing alternative to a classic lager style beer. Finished with imported Saaz Hops, our Lightning Bold Gold promises a smooth finish.

Not all bad but certainly not great. Somewhat basic & almost boring. Good with foods.

This is arguably worse than the light beer here. Pours dark golden without any head or lacing. Light bitter finish. Some acridness and astringency. Too much copper peeling of the McKegs here. Tap at Alexandria brewpub.

Draft Flight 9/1/03 (FLL)-Pours a clear golden with a small head. Aroma of grains, malt, and slight hops. Taste of sweetness and grains. This light to medium bodied brew was not bad but not good.

About 4 oz. served into a tasting glass. From notes. A: Pours a golden straw color with a small white film. Looks pretty unremarkable. S: There’s a touch of caramel sweetness, and the mildest kiss of hops. T: This is pretty much a bigger Clearwater Light to me - which means the flavor is still low, but there are some noticeable lemony hops to balance the crackery malt. Actually, it goes too far into the other direction and ends up being soapy on the finish. M: It’s light with good drinkability, but a little low on carbonation. O: Honestly? Clearwater Light was better than this. This may have a bit more flavor, but it’s also too soapy. Not one I’d bother with again.

Draft. Another pointless offering. A small white edge head gives this one an extra point for appearance, otherwise it’s wasted space in the glass.

Meh. Almost average, but just lacking in all respects except clarity and clean character.

Clean straw gold pour with a white head. Grassy hop and wet hay on the nose. Bread dough. Sweet with a very light, almost nonexistent hop bitterness. Very light and plain.

Served on draft at the brewpub. A third consecutive pale lager. Yay. Pours a clear pale amber color with a thin head. Poor head retention. Aroma of grain and caramel. The taste is toasted grain and grassy hops. Thin bodied.

On tap in Matthews nc, solid saaz flavor, tastes like a correctly made plisner from the Czech republic. Nice.

On tap @ Hops Golden. A touch hazy, light yellow appearance with a white head. Pretty dull pale lager nose with not much hops. Bitter, grainy pale malty flavor. Better than their Clearwater but that does say crap.

On tap at the Alexandria, Virginia location. Pours a bright, clear yellow color with minimal head and a few bubbles on top as the head settles down. The nose is quite grainy rather than malty with some husk and fairly-strong astringencies. The taste is more grain and maybe a faint hit of some herbal hops. Astringent grain husks rule in this kingdom, though. Off, harsh finish. Light body and pretty far bell average drinkability. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 12-20-2010
