This beer is dedicated to the breweries that once made this style of beer in vast quantities for export to the Baltic States. It contains five different malts and dark treacle, but only one variety of hop which is Northern Brewer.
Once the initial fermentation is over the beer is transferred into a conditioning tank, placed in the brewery cellar and aged for a period of six months. This allows the complex flavours to develop before the next stage which is bottling. The beer is reprimed with sugar and a fresh dose of alcohol tolerant yeast, bottled and then placed in a conditioning room between 25-30 degrees C. After 4-6 weeks the beer is checked for carbonation levels, taste and other quality parameters. If all is well, then it is ready to be sold which is usually around November or December. As the beer is only made once a year there is a limited supply each year which is usually around 1600 bottles. Every bottle is numbered and marked with the month and year of production and is therefore unique.

6 Fairly sudued aroma. Some rich burntness in there.
4 obsidian, very brief head.
7 Slightly stodgy roast, dry burntness, just short of ashiness. Alas slightly
4 Sweet and smooth, carbonation low. Finish a little mashy and heavily roasted, drying, but not astringent. There’s even some dark dry hoppy bitterness.
14 Fairly good balance, thick and heavy, but without being oppressive. Solid, and definitely quite a serious sipper.

Bottle 27,5 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours black and opaque with a small beige head. Hard roasted malt in the nose but the sweet dried fruit dominate. Quite full-bodied, a little low in carbonation, some licorice notes. Has a light malt bitterness. Really an old school Imperial Stout, but a nice one indeed. 220311

Bottled. A red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, over ripe fruits and brettanomyce. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, roasted malt, and soy sauce, leading to a bitter finish.
