great stuff.....I think this is up there with my bloody valentine for my fav in this style....great hop flavor and red malt characteristics.....wish pleasanton was closer to me...then russian river would be as well.... dwyerpg (2174), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 14, 2008 This has an absolutely wonderful aroma. Sweet caramel with sugar. Definitely hoppy for an amber ale, but has quite a bit of malt too. A little thin at times. Overall pretty tasty. redlem (1111), Illinois, USA Oct 2, 2003 Slightly hazy red color with a medium head. A strong pine aroma to accompany the sweet malt aroma. Caramel malt taste with a pine hop finish. A chewy beer that is very enjoyable. rkuhnel (1232), Eureka, California, USA Dec 1, 2007 From a 22 oz bottle, this poured a rich ruby color with a about the fattest, most pillow like head I have ever seen on a beer. Big nose of caramel malts and fruit, backed up my by cirrus hops. Good smooth mouthfeel. Flavor of fruits and hops and a moderate bitter finish. An excellent beer, and unlike most ambers. 21iceman40 (1672), vienna, West Virginia, USA Mar 1, 2003 This was a very solid amber ale. A flaming orange color with a mild head. Lots of hopps are present in the aroma, but more so in the taste. Some mild tartiness noticable in the taste as well, possibly some red grapfruit. This is like an amber ipa due to all the hoppiness, and is a pleasure to enjoy.
