3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at sunset. Upfront malt blend of toffee and citrus. So tough to pick out specifics. Late aroma of acidic, spiced malt. As bad as it sounds, and truly not intended, the acidic and malty blend of smells reminds me of a malty throw-up, with a mild alcoholic esophagus singe. Taste is fruity (crispy green grapes). Super late medium dry finish. I can't pick out much of this beer, which annoys the hell outta me, but its so good.

22oz bottle in Seattle. Clear dark whisky. Sweet caramel aroma and first sip, sparkly roast body, sweet dry backbone. Not too herby. Good hop bitter finish. Nice beer

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark reddish color with really bubbly white head that sustains for at least a minute or so. Smells of caramel and burnt sugar, also citrus notes and pine resin. Great balance of bitter and sweet. Good dose of hops for an amber. Definate citrus flavors going on here too. Body is very good and is lightly carbonated. Iím not sure what is wintery about this, and think it could be offered year íround.

Large bottle from BCLS 39th/Cambie in Vancouver. Dark reddish-amber color, with generous off-white head. Nose is floral citrus hops. Taste is gloriously hoppy, with some malt backing. Finish is long and bitter. Exceptional!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, copper amber pour. Light citrus hops with a touch of Xmas spice. Slight cinnamon & allspice. Pretty big dose of bitterness. Decent flavor. Bottle art better than beer.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Single bottle purchased from Kensington Wine Market in Calgary, AB on 12/24/2012. Colour: Medium brown with light brown lacing. Nose: A whole pocket full of fruit and flowers from the hops. Subtle backdrop of toffee. Note of wet leather and tomato sauce. Huge nose with boundless energy. Taste: Medium sweet, medium bitter, medium sour. Like most brewery winter releases, this one is a bit sweet - but the malt is non-offensive and its integration is as slick as it comes. The hops are crisp and protruding - but again smooth and well crafted. Long, lingering finish of nut and even a dash of maple. Whoever was the mastermind behind this one is a genius.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
For winter beers its quite good, smells amazing, but as a whole it kind of gets lost as another dark IPA. That said I would drink this always.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
19 dec 2012, bottle. Orange/brown and faintly hazy. Nose is resin hops and red fruit. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Big grapefruit hops, very bitter. After the bitterness fades then there is a sweet Ted fruit element.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Huge hops aroma up front, Northwest style. Booze is quite detectable. Pours a nice copper color with a thin head. Lots of carbonation on the tongue, resounding hop bitterness, nice balancing with sweet malt. Sticks around for awhile. Highly drinkable winter warmer. Build me a wet snowman.

On tap. A hoppy ale with lots of malt backbone. Itís much like a really alcoholic IPA.
