There’s nice cookie-dough-like malt sweetness beneath strong orange and grapefruit citrus hops in the aroma. Clear brown body is topped by a decent, off-white head that recedes to a lasting cover with some lacing. Strong malt flavours offset by strong bitterness with plenty of citrus hop flavours and some resiny notes. Sweetness comes out in the finish but the slightly harsh bitterness really lingers. Medium body with soft-bubbled carbonation makes for a very nice mouthfeel. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle from the BCLS at Hellsgate in January 2012.

16 oz can- Pours slightly cloudy dark orange with a decent light tan head that slowly reduces. Aroma is hops, which is unexpected and welcomed, spicy rye bread, some caramel malts. The taste is similar to a red IPA, in fact it very much reminds me of Sierra Nevada Flipside Red, which is a good thing when your beer is compared to the masters at Sierra Nevada. Nice caramel malts blend wonderfully with the hops, good.

This 7.3% American Strong Ale poured out a vibrant reddish gold with a thin light beige head in my snifter. A powerful hop aroma of piney citrus with a touch of dank rises from the glass to entice the drinker. The zesty carbonation on a soft body is quite satisfying. The taste is sweet malts, fruity hops with just a bit of pine. A very satisfying ale, beyond the beautiful can this is a great beer to check out this winter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle pours a clear, burnt orange with some creamy, white head. Nose is all DIPA, very pithy, orange, herbs, pine, some guava. Flavor has pine, grapefruit, kumquat, orange peel, mild honey. Full bodied, bitter finish. DIPA all the way.

Canned from Trader Joe’s. Dark amber in color. Nose is highly hopped with spicy hops. Flavor is hoppy, malty and slightly sweet. Finish is mostly grapefruit peel. A strong ale in the vein of AB.

No retention and light lacing. Smells of dark fruits, black current and caramel. Tastes of figs, dates and burnt sugar. Semi-sweet/bitter aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet bitter flavor. medium body, thicker creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter sweet dry finish. That’s niceI I like the flavor best, it’s borderline brown ale malt with a good hoppy streak. Thanks Andre

Set the glass, opened the can, poured the beer. A hazy apricot colored liquid came dancing out of the can, the foam reserved at first, but finally an attempt to take shape. It tried, but it was just not working. Small and reserved, the head finally decided on a light but consistent cover for the surface of the brew in the glass. HUGE hops burst out of the flume as I poured this, and I flash back to the flavor in the air whist hand picking numerous pounds of Cascade hops, early last September. Unbelievable pine resin in the aroma with a gigantic malt presence in the taste and a flavor that evens everything out and makes you think you’re only having a beer. The palate is comfortably dry, with a slightly thick and sticky texture. The carbonation is a little flat for my taste, and the finish slightly longer than I would like, but with that much hops on the taster, how do you mute it quickly? Not a bad brew, the aroma is "hops cone" out of this world, and am glad that the actual flavor is not spot on with it, otherwise the bitterness would be appalling. The presentation is all flavor and aroma, the appearance lightweight and the palate a little heavy, but the experience is amazing. The hops have never been so forward in a beer for me and I suggest that folks try it if only for that...
