UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Clear yellow with a white head. Fruity hop nose of melon and lemon citrus. Wet on the palate, medium bodied, some light coarseness in the back, and some plastic grain twang in there as well. Okay but nothing like true Czech pils.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jercraigs (6473) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 12, 2010
2010-07-04. Crisp yellow body with a small white head. Flavour is pretty mild, just enough grassy hop bitterness to make it interesting, pale malt undertones are fairly muted. 5+ Mild grassy hop aroma. Average to light palate suits it. Very muted. Does what it sets out to I guess, but is ultimately just okay. On tap at Seattle International Beer Festival
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Rastacouere (6041) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 15, 2010
Unfiltered straw coloured golden pour wearing a more than fair white head. From the looks, I already expect greatness. From the look on my face, I have been served. It’s a very clean pls malt nose that I encounter on the first whiff where hay and the softest breadiness are in fine equilibrium. Refreshing grassy, herbal and slightly spicy bitterness comes with the cleansing, crisp carbonation to provide the kind of finish I like: the one that tells you the next sip will always be welcome and will never be less tasty or interesting than the last one. Saturation just does not happen with that type of beer. Perfect sunny day lager, dry and straightforward. Unsurprisingly, I’m in total disagreement with the majority here. That’s one mighty fine lager, but perhaps not responding to the average wet dreams of a Portland visitor.
