A pale orange with a white head. Grapefruit and citrus aroma with candied tropical notes. Medium body. The flavor doesn’t really match the aroma. Much more harsh citrus hop notes but a fairly strong biscuit malt undertone. The major player here is still the hops, but the malt (not sweet caramel malt, mind you) is noticeable. Finishes with a bit of harsh biting citrus hop. Pretty good overall, but sort of a one trick pony.

22 oz bottle. From the HUB, Portland, OR.
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Fruity, grapefruity and citrusy hops, mild bitterness and dryness in the aroma. The aroma points to some thinness but the flavour proves it wrong. The flavour is grapefruit, fruits and resin, moderate bitterness, sweetness and mild maltiness. Balanced.

Pours a copper colour with a small frothy head. Aromas of resiny and citrusy hops. Nice hoppy flavour, slightly spicy with caramel malt and a decent bitter finish. Medium body.

Can from Trader Joe’s. Medium golden/amber in color. Nice hoppy nose with a little pine and grapefruit. Grapefruit bitterness up front followed by a bit of a malty backbone. A bit of a dry peppery hop character follows. A hint of sweetness and then more grapefruit peel.

16 oz can from a friend of mine. Packaged on 20 January 2015, so relatively fresh. Get some onion on the nose, plus some earthy grassy hops, but the onion dominates. Flavor is more pleasant with a pretty smooth hop presence, but the finish has a funny metallic tinge. Still very drinkable.

[2/26/15] Draught at Hopworks BikeBar in Portland. Clear golden. Pleasant fruity hops aroma, a bit “green” and piney. Lovely fresh hops flavor, fruity, “green” and a bit piney, with nice bitterness. Medium-bodied. Very good.

Tap at the brewery. A: Copper color with a whispy white head. N: Grapefruit, pine, cracker, hint of toffee and pineapple. More earth and leaves. T: Quite bitter, light sweetness, a bit fruity. M: Medium body, dry, crisp carbonation, hidden alcohol. O: Fruity, quitessential IPA. I like RPM quite a bit more, but this will do in a pinch.
