3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A good brew overall, but a bit too light and fruity for me. Pours a dark, deep black with a thin tan head. The nose is roasted and robust with fruity notes among the heavy chocolate and esoresso bean notes. A nice balance of robust and fruity with a bit of a sweet mid palate. Quite dessert esque with a light cherry or chocolate cherry note. The finish is full bodied but lacks the heavy, viscous mouthfeel. Overall, robust and a bit bitter on the finish. Good brew but falls short as an Imperial Stout.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Large shared bottle pours near black with a decent head.
The aroma is sweet and lightly boozy.
The flavor largely follows, with pronounced notes of toffee and dark fruits. Some coffee in the aftertaste.
Smooth, full body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bottle pours black in color with a finger of light brown head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains, licorice, chocolate and cherries. Taste is a roasted grain bitterness with a chocolate malty sweetness with licorice and a light cherry tartness in the finish. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. A well done brew that is balanced and tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate light brown head on there. Nose has some dark fruit and licorice in there on top of the dark roasting elements. Taste is slightly bitter and even more slightly sour, with the fruit and roasting coming through, and an ever-so-slight sweetness to the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Brown/black with caramel colored head. Aroma is figgy, with a sharp treacle note. Taste is the same, and very rich, with coffee, chocolate, and a rooty sweetness intertwined with a bitter hop buzz, and some warming alcohol. My only complaint is it’s a bit too sweet $6/22oz

Bomber at Imazato. Black with thick tan lace and pretty bubbles. Nose is licorice, vanilla, chocolate, soy sauce, dried fruits. Licorice and chocolate flavor, coffee, vanilla, a bit of cola, cocoa, a bit wood, berries coming out. Slightly roasty, bitter finish. Soft and a bit too thin, but nice flavors. Very fruity with lots of umami.

Big and chewy, with a sweet chocolate cherry undertone to the huge roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and anise. Enjoyed this smooth ass sipper quite a bit."

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Sake no Taniguchi I believe. Served in a snifter it pours a dark brown pour that’s pitch black in the glass with a thick tan head. The aroma is anise, cherry & creamy chocolate. Exceptionally full bodied with a smooth thick mouthfeel. I almost feel a spoon would stand up straight in this beer! The taste has a bit of boozy heat which is no surprise at 9.8% the taste is chocolate, mild cherries, anise, roasted, sweet with some warming in my belly. I wish I’d bought another bottle of this for winter!
