COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Estate NW Style Ale uses both Willamette and Cascade hops grown exclusively for Hopworks on San Juan Island. These hops impart a fresh, crisp and stunning fruitiness, coupled perfectly with aromatic floral herbaceousness. A rich malt body and warming finish are followed by a subtle, balancing hop bitterness. 19.8 degrees Plato, 80 IBU.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy orange amber with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Aromas of light stone fruit and something herb/floral. Med+ body. Flavor is sort of Belgian. Medium stone fruit, yeast/spice, citrus/earthy hop. It has a lingering low level of maltiness in the finish, but there’s enough spice and bitter to put that in place. Rather mouthsmacking.

Tap at Hopworks Bike Bar, Portland - 07/11/12. (I recorded this @6% but nothing to back this up on the web). Lightly hazed golden with a very thin head. Nose is hops, floral tones, caramel malts. Taste is pine, hops, bitter grapefruit. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate, bitter finish. Decent enough.

Estate version bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazed (lightly), copper hued body with a small, off-white head. Aromas are somewhat sweet, grainy and lightly of honey. Floral, some cantaloupe. A touch of herbal hop and grapefruit. Flavors are mildly estery, citrusy and lightly spicy hop character, sweet, malty, and caramel. Medium bodied, some sweetness in the finish with fuller carbonation.

22 oz. bottle, split several ways, pours a cloudy orange amber with a small beige head. Aroma of dry caramel malt, dry citrus hops and a hint of dried fruits. Flavour is both strong on the malts and hops, with a decent amount of sweetness, sweet / tangy tropical fruits, finishing on the fruit notes and some bitter, hoppy orange peel. Solid, if unspectacular strong ale.

Bottle:   Fiery amber, copper hued, fairly clear, moderate carbonation, thin frothy off-white head, sparce lacing.   Moderately hopped nose, some caramel like malts, faint biscuit.   Very minor honeycomb like cereal as well.   A little syrupy maltiness up front, soft biscuit and even softer hops.   Body and mouthfeel are decent, seems as if its a little chewable.   Backside is just like the start.   Pretty boring overall, nothing really stands out.   Fairly dull, no real bright notes.   Had it been hopped more, it would have been better.   Too one sided, and without the sweetness or hops.   Meh...

22. Pours a murky bronzed dark amber with a loose scattered tan head. Big sweet toffee and graham cracker nose. Getting kind of smore-y without the chocolate, actually--there seems to be a bit of marshmallow there. Creamy medium body, lots of sweetness from residual sugars: toffee, caramel, honey, graham cracker. A little bit of oily hop orange blossom quality as well. Mild finish. Aside from the cool fact of using Pig War as a name (which a Washington brewery should have gotten organized and done first), there’s not much to talk about here.

San Diego Strong Ale Fest 2010. Clear amber color/ white head. grassy, spicy hop aromas with caramel. medium bodied. Nice caramel, pine sap, floral, spicy flavors. Yet another tasty hoppy brew from these guys.

Orange with a white head. The aroma is full of toffee, tea and herbs. The flavor is similar with some herbs, toffee, sugar and caramel. Fairly sweet. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
