4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
More of a pale with red ale notes than a true red ale. Keeping that in mind, this is good. Smooth for a red, which as a style sometimes are too assertive. This one is more mellow, and quite enjoyable.

Clearish amber under a thin rocky light beige head. Strong nose with a herbal piney hop note, a touch of lemon, and earthy caramalts. Lightish palate with boozy earthy esters, a earthy toast tone and a bitter finish.

Can from Taniguchi, 550 yen. An APA in a fantastic looking can. It pours a clear red color that lives up to the name. Atruly hoppy citrus nose with a bit of biscuit. The taste is nicely bitter, fruity, piney with a good dose of crisp biscuit from the malts and a somewhat malty spicy quality. Very nice, one of the best of the night.

A rich clear mahogany red pour with a short lasting full coarsely bubbled head. Citrus fruit hops jump out on the nose. Pine citrus malty and very nice; another solid beer HUB.

On Tap at Boise’s Cloud 9 Nano-Pub Clear redish amber with a full dense off white head. Malty woody bitter aroma, and a crisp sharp hoppy bite. Clean and straight forward, good malty Pale and still has a lot of good hop flavor.

16 ounce can. Pours a clear dark copper color with a small white head. A nice fruity nose, some oranges. The flavor is caramel, toasted malts, a pretty robust bitterness, oranges, lots of late boil here. Very clean and flavorful.

Canned: hard to tell based on info on bottom of can
It’s a toasted amber with a solid quilt of protein tan foam. Smells of tea, some resin hops, lots of crystal malts, not much else. Has that Special B smell. Has that Special B flavor, some tea, some caramel, a bunch of bitter with grassy hop character. Full bodied for the style with low carb and a wet finish. Nice amber if you ask me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer pours from a can a hazy orange-amber color with a thick and foamy light beige head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, pine and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of piney hops, caramel malt and fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.
