This is a great beer. Very similar to a NW IPA, just malted up a bit. The pour is a bright copper mahaogany body with a thin half finger of beige head. The nose is sweet with slight honey and fruits. Citrus and tropical notes permeate the hoppiness. The taste is similar to the nose, with tons of sweet caramel malts in the middle and a finish of grapefruit resinous hops. Overall, this is a great beer and a fantastic hoppy session beer.

650mL bottle poured hazy amber into glass with about 2 fingers of off-white head settling to a decent lace. Aromas of caramel and floral hops and some earthy notes as well. Taste is predominantly hops with some malts in the background. Body is medium and carbonation adequate, providing a nice mouthfeel. A nicely balanced ale which is quite enjoyable.

Lush, hazy red clay colour with a sudsy beige head that leaves globs of lacing. The aroma is worty and earthy with undertones of pine resin. Other nuances of doughy malt, caramel, and sweet yams come to mind. The flavour is equally worty but with more bitterness than can be perceived in the aroma. The hop character is muted, but the hop bitterness remains. This is indicative of an old bottle, therefore I cannot truly attest to the fresh hoppy flavour this beer may have closer to its born-on date. The hop character I can pick out is of soft citrus, typical of centennial hops. Booze is not hidden so well for 5.8% abv. The mouthfeel is silky, yet is thin-medium bodied. Medium palate duration with some bitterness and caramel malt lingering. I wish I could have tried this fresher.

Comes out of the tap a dark coppery golden with a thick, yellow-beige head. Rich, malty aroma has a spicy undertone. Mouth-filling malty flavor has tones of cloves and fruit as well as hints of caramel and hops. Smooth, fizzy texture leaves behind a fruity finish.

Orange and grapefruit citrus hops over thick malts in the nose. Clear burnished copper coloured body is topped by a low off white head that recedes to a thin partial cover with some small lacing. Flavour follows aroma with some graininess. Medium body and carbonation to match. Sampled on tap at Alibi Room.

Bottle: Pours an amber color with a nice big white head. Nose is big with melanoidins and other hop laden umami balloons. Nice chewy mouthfeel with a big hop bite in the tail. Very tasty red with a crisp and earthy pine-full mouthfeel and finish. Yum!

In short: A basic astringent and very hoppy citrusy/grapefruity APA. Nothing special
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed fresh a few weeks after purchase. Bottle sent to me by mcberko. Thanks Matt
The look: Partly cloudy light golden body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose of citrusy and grapefruity hops, toasted salad croutons and some phenols. The fluffy body provides minimal bready malts (industrial white bread sensation), a light white-sugar and caramel flavour, passion fruits, a lot of earthy leafy hops with a grapefruit twist. Abrupt astringent finish with a short bitterness of low intensity. Lack of after-taste. Not a bad beer at all but this is the type basic amateurish APA I expect to find in villages brewpub and not from a serious brewery. Overall a bit disappointing. Hopworks specializes in brewing organic/bio beers but and I’m a bit afraid to drink them because I’ve heard that most people die of natural causes.
