2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured into a snifter. Copper color, almost transparent held up to the light with a half inch of white head.
Smells like a handfull of hops. Sharp citrus with malty notes.
Initial watery taste, then the hops kicking in some bitterness and a slight malty sweetness. There does not seem to be any complexity, pretty one-sided and unbalanced by the bitter.
Crisp and bubbly. Light body and quick finish.
Not really excited about this beer. The nose and appearance were really good, but the taste was a let down. Not a great drink, but not bad either.

Can: Bright copper pour, topped with a creamy sand colored head. Good lacing. Heavy floral and citrus hops in the nose, a little bready as it warms. Good balance of malt, lightly toasted, to floral in the taste. Moderately sweet. Lingering bitters in the tail. Sessionable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from Asahiya. Caramel nose, with some spicy hopping, citrus/pine mix. Hazy light reddish/amber color with a thick beige head and good lacing. Medium sweetish caramel initial, piney, a bit resiny even, woody, hearbal, some citrus, slightly dry and bitter finish. Medium body. Very satisfying. Unusual hopped-up amber.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark copper pour with average head, but more than average lacing. Light malt, toffee aroma. Not the hoppiness you would expect from a pale ale. Taste is more malt, some caramel, mildly sweet, but not hoppy at all. Very close to an amber or brown ale.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a beautiful reddish brown, with a 2 finger light caramel head, strong retention. Smells fruity and slightly boozy. Really nice mouthfeel, hop heavy front that lingers and than fades into a caramel linger. Good beer

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
More of a pale with red ale notes than a true red ale. Keeping that in mind, this is good. Smooth for a red, which as a style sometimes are too assertive. This one is more mellow, and quite enjoyable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clearish amber under a thin rocky light beige head. Strong nose with a herbal piney hop note, a touch of lemon, and earthy caramalts. Lightish palate with boozy earthy esters, a earthy toast tone and a bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can from Taniguchi, 550 yen. An APA in a fantastic looking can. It pours a clear red color that lives up to the name. Atruly hoppy citrus nose with a bit of biscuit. The taste is nicely bitter, fruity, piney with a good dose of crisp biscuit from the malts and a somewhat malty spicy quality. Very nice, one of the best of the night.

M: medium body. Bone dry.
O: A good beer that could use a bit more of everything, I think.
