Pours very dark brown with billowing head. Lots of perfumey floral hops balanced with roasted dark malt. Moderate bitterness lingers in the finish. Very perfumey. Well done.

Roasted malt aroma - dark chocolate, espresso and piney hops. Medium bodied, roasted characteristics, medium hop finish. Finish is lingering bitter with a touch if lemon. This is a good beer, but I’ve had better stylistically, and a style I’m growing quite fond of.

Originally reviewed: 3/2/10. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a limitless black. No light gets through. A gorgeous tan head caps it off like the top of a milkshake. Excellent retention; leaves lots of sticky lace and webbing. This is a really pretty beer. Big powerful pine resin scents burst out to the nose. Citrus zest and some grass in there as well. Great smooth and creamy body. This one sits a little heavy. Very bitter at the onset with lots of hop presence. Sharp burnt toast on the backend. A little charring. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great beer!

Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. Pours reddish-brownish-black with a medium fluffy light beige head that diminishes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of sweet roasted malt and resiny hops. The finish is piney hops up front and leaves a sweet malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle thanks to Ben! Pours a clear dark brown with a deep earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount grassy and pine hops with a bit of roast and dark grains. Flavor has a nice combination of roasted malts, dark grains and a bit of resinous pine hop. A bit of a creamy mouth feel.

Pours deep black. Citrus aroma with some cocoa and coffee. Quite hoppy, but with a mocha malt body. I really like this one. Some grapefruit, some coffee. Works well here.

Black pour with a finger of head. Webs of lacing. Citrus aroma - hops, some coffee. Gave it a bit to warm and was surprised at how balanced this was - Hoppy bitterness with roasted malt, a bit of black coffee, under-ripe Grapefruit, Organic grains (think that smell when you step into an organic grocery store). Medium bodied, slightly lower carbonation. Resiny mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Nice dark malts with pine hop flavor. The body presents a nice solid palate, minimal bitterness. Nice representative of a CDA Cascadian Dark Ale

Bomber. More dark brown than black in appearance along with an inch of foamy tan head. Lots of ripe citrus and floral hops in the aroma in addition to roast malt and chocolate toward the end. Strong herbal hops bitterness leads off the taste followed by some grapefruit, mint and pine. The malt flavors are burnt and roasty with bittersweet chocolate and espresso highlights. Mildly creamy mouthfeel with strong carbonation and more bitter roastiness in the finish. Nice blend of Pacific Northwest hops varieties and roasted malt flavors.

Bomber. Decent India Dark Ale. Nice and bitter. A bit thin in the middle. Pine and roasted malts. Bitter finish.
