#3000 for me. 3-1-11
This is one of the tastiest CDA or beers out there. Over the years I have talked beer and have come up with some of my all time favs. This is one of the all times for me.
Dark brown in color, clear with a thin tan head. Nice dark malt and hops aroma. Lots of good Malt and caramel and chocolate malts mixed with the big hops. HUB does one kiss ass beer here. This will go down as one of the best. Great finish it is hard not to order another. A must for any CDA fan.

On tap at Big Al’s - Very floral and citrus hops scent. Dark pour with a nice white head. Tastes like roasted malt with a great hops balance. I don’t have anything smart to say about this. I just really, really like it.

My favorite black IPA (besides the ones I’ve brewed myself). Hopworks doesn’t go overboard with roasty flavors, nor to they make a ful-bodied caramelly mess like many other black IPA’s I’ve had. This one hits the right balance of hops, malt, and roast. I’ve had this at Hopworks, though, and never from a bottle, so I can’t say how it ages.

I fell in love with this beer after the first sip. And I don’t say that often. I just found it that good. It had an enticing nose filled with chocolate and citrusy hops. Then a great mouthfeel and a dryish finish. Huge pine bursts in the mouth right off the bat. A sappy sweetness quickly morphs into an explosive bouquet of hop aromas (pine trees, flowers, wild grasses and mint). Like fresh herbs coated in a resinous syrup. Chocolate and dark grains also take hold of your olfactories. Man, what a tasty, fresh-tasting Cascadian Dark Ale. Easily one of the best I’ve ever had.

My favorite beer at NAOBF ’09. Its dark, superbly hopped into an earthy drink. good ABV and the resin qualtiy just lasts. When I can taste the beer in my nose, then its a good one.

Nice dark malts with pine hop flavor. The body presents a nice solid palate, minimal bitterness. Nice representative of a CDA Cascadian Dark Ale

Originally reviewed: 3/2/10. Poured into a pint glass. Pours a limitless black. No light gets through. A gorgeous tan head caps it off like the top of a milkshake. Excellent retention; leaves lots of sticky lace and webbing. This is a really pretty beer. Big powerful pine resin scents burst out to the nose. Citrus zest and some grass in there as well. Great smooth and creamy body. This one sits a little heavy. Very bitter at the onset with lots of hop presence. Sharp burnt toast on the backend. A little charring. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great beer!

Sampled (draught) at the SpringBeerFest in Portland. Deep walnut brown, amber highlights. Aroma of resin, capsicum, burnt malts. Palate equally showcases earthy roast and leafy bitter hops. An excellently balanced black IPA with heaps of character that really SHOWS its blackness. I find many black IPAs hide the dark malts under a boatload of hops, but this one lets everything shine through beautifully. A standout.

Black body, creamy an head, aroma is mocha chocolate coffee with some fresh west coast hops, flavor is big malts, thick caramel, chucks of chocolate, some deep roast, a wide hop flavor and a hint of smoke, an amazing ale, one of the best beers I’ve had in a long time, really great stuff!
