Pours black with a large tan head. Lots of roasty malt as a flavour along with menthol, pine and smoke. Interesting. Flavours include coffee grounds, roasted malt, caramel, piny hops, spicy notes. Finishes with a bold bitterness with both piny and roasty components. Carbonation is just a little high.

Citrus, floral and bread aromas. Pours a near black with a off white head. Light mouthfeel good bitterness some dry roast and resin decent ipa, but not a CDA they should have stuck with calling it a black ipa. False marketing.

Bottle, 10C. Dark red brown with a beige head that fades. Floral grapefruit and lemon aroma with some coffee and licorice. Very light-bodied, has that lack of presence/ weediness that sometimes turns up in organic beers. A little mocha, licorice, plenty of citrus flavours, pine. Finish is dry and fairly bitter.

Draft at HUB Portland, OR on 5 June 2013. Pours a very dark almost black with a lingering tan head. Great bitter citrus hop aroma. Full on hop bitterness rounded with burnt coffee and dark chocolate on the palate.

bulldogops (1039) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 27, 2013
1 oz sample at Beer Revolution, courtesy of @bresnev. Pours a sinful black, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is a violent clash between toasted malt, and citrus, grainy hops. Taste is extremely hoppy, tempered with a pleasant coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar sweetness that disguises the higher abv quite well. Whatever this is seceding from, it’s succeding..
