3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
1 oz sample at Beer Revolution, courtesy of @bresnev. Pours a sinful black, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is a violent clash between toasted malt, and citrus, grainy hops. Taste is extremely hoppy, tempered with a pleasant coffee, chocolate, burnt sugar sweetness that disguises the higher abv quite well. Whatever this is seceding from, it’s succeding..

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells of hops and peat. Pours dark red/brown with a light head. Tastes very different than the smell, almost took me aback. Bitter coffee, mild hops, very pleasant aftertaste. The smell and the taste go along well together. It doesn’t stand out in any real way but is just an all together well rounded beer that is not too dense but with a full flavor and scent that I think I’ll keep around for friends to enjoy.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Great maltiness in this one but the hops just aren’t bold enough to support them properly in a black ipa.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours dark brown/black, off-white head. Aroma sharp and resinous, lively body, not too malty. Very crisp and clean, compared to some more malty versions of the style. Finish is almost a bit sweet and slightly roasty. Very enjoyable, especially for the price.
