Smells of hops and peat. Pours dark red/brown with a light head. Tastes very different than the smell, almost took me aback. Bitter coffee, mild hops, very pleasant aftertaste. The smell and the taste go along well together. It doesn’t stand out in any real way but is just an all together well rounded beer that is not too dense but with a full flavor and scent that I think I’ll keep around for friends to enjoy.

Black IPA / Cascadian Dark Ale (yes, it’s a style now). Really good toasted malt flavor. Very dark brown color. Delicious beer.

Great maltiness in this one but the hops just aren’t bold enough to support them properly in a black ipa.

Draft from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours dark brown/black, off-white head. Aroma sharp and resinous, lively body, not too malty. Very crisp and clean, compared to some more malty versions of the style. Finish is almost a bit sweet and slightly roasty. Very enjoyable, especially for the price.

Pours a very dark brown with some sediment on the bottom possibly hops, big light brown head that stays and laces the glass really nicely. Aromas of roasted malt, pine, grassy. Flavours of chocolate/roasted malts, pine to grapefruit to grassy transition with just the right amount of medium bitterness that doesn’t over stay its welcome.

Pours a clear black with a brown hat that leaves sticky lace on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, pine & grass. Taste is citrus pine uo front then transitions into the dark chocate malts and finishes with a grassy bitterness. Excellent cascadian ale.
