Growler from Chuck’s 85th. Pours deep inky brown with medium mocha head that fades quickly and laces well. Aroma is big espresso notes, lightly sweet dark chocolate malt, with dry oaky flavors as well. Taste is rich super smooth roasty chocolate malt, mild but noticeable bitterness, and sweet nutty espresso that really jumps out on the finish. Perfectly balanced, amazingly rich and flavorful particularly for such a low abv. One of the best stouts around; and organic as well. Really impressive.

Had on draft at the brewery. The aroma is big dark chocolate notes, coffee. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. The coffee in this is very clean and does not have any green pepper notes.

Big chocolate. Smooth and slight hop presence. Crisp and no alc taste. Oat and quinoa taste is apparent to me. Nice brew.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours dark brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some coffee and chocolate, cereal, dough, and a light bitterness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the stout, grains, and coffee. Average texture, sort of light for its style. A decent beer but could be way better.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice looking beer; deep cola-brown body with a creamy tan head hanging around.
Subdued aroma. Roasted nuts, cocoa, wholegrain bread crust, treacle, with some coffee bean and earthy spice.
Medium body, particularly dry and particularly textural - slick, oily, somewhat tannic. Moderately high carbonation perhaps a bit overdone.
More of the same on the body; quite nutty, dry cocoa, earthy coffee bean character, some grainy character but not pronounced. Very dry finish with a lingering bitterness.
Think they’ve probably gone a bit overboard with adding coffee on top of a 7 grain stout. Ultimately, I see it as a miss opportunity on 2 fronts - the grain character wasn’t pronounced enough, nor was the coffee, i’m left somewhere in the middle somewhat bamboozled thinking "Well it should have been one, or the other.". Interesting enough beer regardless.
