4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
quite possibly one of the best stouts that I’ve had. on tap at HUB, pours deep brown, almost black with a medium head. aroma is filled with coffee and nutty notes. flavor is full of deep coffee notes with an earthy balance. hairbender is obviously the key ingredient here. an easy but complex drinker.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma has tones of semi-sweet chocolate and fine roast coffee, with a very strong smoky overtone and a hint of toffee. It pours a deep, warm sable with a thick, if not overly persistent, tan head that leaves some good lacing. Smoky flavor has roast coffee and woody tones with nutty, chocolate and toffee hints. Texture is smooth and fizzy, a teensy on the watery side but still more than acceptable. If ever you are in Oregon, look for this one!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
My absolute favorite stout, bar none. Rich and almost creamy, it hits the palate with a blast of coffee before going down smooth, leaving a slightly nutty aftertaste. HUB brews all their beer organically and it shows. I’ve not tasted a poor quality beer from them yet. If you like beer and coffee (and most Portlanders do) you must try this!

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured out of a 22oz bottle into a tulip glass. A dark brown, opaque pour with a light tan inch of head.
Smells like coffee, caramel, burnt malt and molasses. Wow. Amazing.
Tastes of burnt malt, coffee and slightly sweet malt at the end. Very good.
Light to medium body. Almost non-existent carbonation.
Easily a daily drinker. Excellent flavor and too drinkable. The smell is really the star here. Incredible.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
bottle courtesy of kenb! dark pour with a 1 finger light brown head. aroma is tons of coffee, just like a cup oif regular ol joe. plus lots of hearty yummy grains of course! taste is a nice bitter bite cut with the earth flavors of grain, dirt, smoke and time. being familiar with the more obscure grains in this drink i can def taste and very much appreciate their presence in this mixture. nice full body with some velvet and a very nice feel all the way through, very primal, i love it! leaves a great smokey, full aftertaste that is bitter, but not too. idef want some more of this!

22 oz bottle from Hagen. Pours near black with brown edges. Average size fluffy beige head. Nose is roasted grains and coffee. Tastes like you would expect...coffee, roasted grains, and some dry bakers chocolate with a touch of cream.
Light/medium body. I have not had a dry stout in some time..one because i have not sampled much beer in the past 6 months due to wait loss, but also because it is not one of my favorite styles. This is a very good beer though and at the top of this style, and much better than most dry stouts i have had. Would love to try this on nitro. HUB continues to impress me. Quality ++ all the way.
