Unique and tasty. Clean coffee and light hops in the aroma. Flavors of fresh roasted coffee, toasted grains, caramel and hints of milk. There’s no mistaking this is a coffee beer. A bit thinner than expected, but really smooth with a clean finish.

[2/26/15] Draught at Hopworks BikeBar in Portland. Dark brown to black. Great roasty coffee aroma. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with lots of coffee and some mocha. Rounded creamy mouthfeel. Very good.

2014 fall Keyaki. Ezo beer sampler. Really big dark roasted coffee, malt and granola aromas with a touch of chocolate present as well. Tastes of cacao, milk chocolate, grain. Bittersweet on the palate with a roasted taste. Creamy and rich mouthfeel. Smooth finish.

Bottle (Vintage Cellars Elsternwick). Black with a light tan head. Aroma of caramel, coffee, roasted barley. Smooth texture, moderate carbonation - still a bit astringent though. Lots of (OK but not interesting) coffee, moderate roasted flavours, husks, some dark chocolate. Clean moderately bitter finish. I don’t really understand why you’d make a big thing of a complicated exotic mixture of grains... and then wallop it with coffee, but a nice and very drinkable drop.

pours dark black with off white head and some lacing. Aroma is dark roast and coffee. Taste is straightforward coffee with some bitterness on the back and some milk chocolate and dark chocolate mixed in, Has a little bit of wood aftertaste. The idea behind this is wonderful, but the execution is a little lacking.

650ml bottle, dark brown, black color, with a beige head, mild sweet roasted ground coffee bean, mocha, vanilla, grainy toasted, roasted, chocolate wheat malty nose, with some faint cocoa powder, chocolate granola bar, grainy chocolate coated Graham cracker accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild sweet smooth roasted ground coffee bean, mocha, grainy roasted, wheat, toasted, caramel, chocolate malty character, with some muesli cereal, black coffee, burnt toast, molasses, burnt bran muffin, faint dark bitter chocolate flavours, leading towards a mochaish, chocolatey cake, brown chocolate, mild black coffee, lingering ground coffee Bean, roasty bitterness finish.

Dark brown pour tan head. Aroma coffee, honey, whole wheat crackers. Acidic like coffee. Tastes like sugar puffs cereal. Licorice, wood. Clean finish like cold brew coffee. Some char, but subdued. I like these light bodied stouts.
