4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 9, 2013 bottle@’t Waagstuk: 2011 version, bottle # 013914, big bottle shared, standard orange colour with a little, white head, very funky, tart & distinctly sour, deep taste, feels layered like gueuze packed upon gueuze, upon gueuze, lemon zest, cork, acid, lots of horseblanket, surprisingly carbonated, not extremely but lively //// Tried a 2013 bottle @ Tour de Geuze, had notes of that somewhat but either way, bit better than the 2011, more characters, wood & funk but I am still not a fan of these big blends, very messy and everything muddles to a lower common denominator type of deal or maybe because it is was blended by Boon & I am biased or something?

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2009 Bottle number 11048 (with a best before of 16-10-2028) via a trade. Pours with a highly effervescent, slightly murky golden body with a huge and lasting egg shell colored, fluffy head. Aromas are hugely fruity, estery, funky. Lemon, pineapple, tons of brett. Wet leaves, fragrant and very fruity. Flavors of CO2, canned pineapple, fresh pineapple, fruit, lemon, acidic, funky, horseblanket. Good levels of acidity. Cork, musty and lightly candyish on the back end. Aged champagne flavors. Lightly puckering. Dry. Some tannins, no astringencies with a very lively level of carbonation. Tasty.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle #4053 of the 2011 Mega Blend production. This blend has been bottled in October 2010. 75cl bottle.
Aroma is very citrusy, and the beer pours with plenty of head in an orange and clear way. Sourness is just what you’d expect, but it’s not bitter and it’s very very pleasant. Very carbonated, with a bit of an astringent finish. My girlfriend, who hates geuze, thinks it has a Brut Champagne-y finish and I agree, it’s very very pleasant.
It continues in the 2009 tradition, exceptional Geuze that for me rivals with Mariage Parfait.

Thanks to drabmuh for breaking out this bottle at a recent tasting. Served in a snifter.
Pours a moderate golden-yellow color with some visible carbonation. Pretty good white head with a touch of lacing. The nose is mega funky with a really nice barnyard presence and a bit of hay. Really strong in everything. Mild diaper and rubber in the background, in a good way. The flavor continues along the same route with quite a bit of complex funk. Light to medium body with a very dry finish. Quite a good brew. Thanks again, Matt.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Seriously this is one of the best beer I’ve ever had. It was of course acidic but also rather flowery with wonderful sweet notes. Had it on a small street bar in Brussels and hated myself for not buying these cheap when I had the chance. Dear Pierre - thank you for selling this to us.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle drank into a Lost Abbey glass...Pressure warning here! As soon as I took the cage off the cork blasted off, missing my eye by an inch and slamming into a ceiling. Amazingly, it doesn’t gush at all! The beer pours a dark honey gold with a dark off white head that rises about three fingers with great retention and lacing...The aroma is one noted by horse blanket funk executed supremely. Enough of what you want, not enough to turn off your senses...The taste is more horse blanket, a nice earthy funk, very tastey. The only thing I can complain about is the finish on this beer. It becomes slightly sweet and rough.
This is really good and worth trying.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2012 75 cl bottle. Foggy olive yellow with a white head. Nose is toffee and funk with hints of peach; subtle. Medium light, fizzy and refreshing with tiny bubbles. Taste is sweet and tart apple juice, citrus pith, chardonnay and grass. Unexpected sweetness and a lively palate make this an exceptionally drinkable lambic.
