bottle thanx to / shared with kurt ( belgiuminabox.com ) thanx dude ! pours blonde, good white foam. 3 fonteinen-like funk ( could also be de cam , as they are much alike to me ) in the scent. yet not overpowering, so it still has some complexity. to carbonated for sure. most carbonated geuze so far, i’d say .. apples, sour, and very dry. lambics? well i now understand how they say this is ’ too much’ ; you cant find anything realy recognizable. between 9 ( ! ) lambics. its a very intresting one, for sure, but still prefer a basic de cam / cantillon / 3 f over this . the many diffrent flavours kinda ’knock out ’ eachother...

750ml bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours a slightly hazy gold with no head. Aroma is sweet to start, then sour with horse shit and barnyards. Taste has a subtle sour lemon start and a sharp sour cheesy finish.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2015 Bottle at Endo’s house, 25/05/13, from Dranken Geers Gent - 2011 vintage. Hazed light golden with a thin off white head of bubbles that clear to the edge. Nose is burnt grass, lemon rind, funk, damp wood, the top draw in grandads shed, must. Taste comprises lemon rind, light smoke, woody notes, grass, light spice, tarte grape skins, good ball of funk, soured apple pips. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and refreshing in the execution, puckering in the climax. Great stuff! 2011 - 10/4/8/4/17. 2013 Vintage, 13/12/14. 9/5/9/5/18. shit keeps giving !!! @ 4. 9

Poured into a tulip. 2011 vintage. 3.5 A: Well hazed dark yellow with some brownish hues. Three finges of frothy white head. Retention is about average and a few whisps of lacing are left. 4.25 S: Smells like a saison in a lot of ways. Funk forward without a lot of acidity. Flowery and herbal to start with a dry woodiness underneath. Dust, dryrot, jasmine, pollen, wildflower, and apple orchard. Super dry with lots of depth and complexity though not a geuezy as others I’ve had. 4.25 T: Ahhh, here it is. While anyone could mistake the nose for that of a saison, the taste is decidedly gueuze. Lots of funk in the nose as well, but a sollid acidity as well. Flowery and herbal again with the same dry woodiness, pollen, wildflowers, and apple orchard. Mild, but balancing tartness and a bit more tangy lactic acid. Fruitiness that wasn’t really found in the nose is now here. Plenty of lemon, a bit of lime, apple, and peach. Solid here with good complexity and depth. 3.75 M: Lighter medium body. Good upper moderate carbonation. Not particularly creamy or spritzy, but good nonetheless. 4.0 D: Solid all around. A bit pricey, but such is the style. Definitely worth a try and a not a bad beer to stock up on either. Serving type: bottle 04-05-2013 02:25:05

Bottled sample from the 2009 vintage, shared with oakbluff. Gold in colour with spritzy and strong carbonation. Aromas are of lemon curd, funk and herbs (especially fresh thyme and white pepper). Flavors are of lemon peel, dry wood, a bit of fresh cheese and minerals. Sour and dry on the palate. Not as harmonious as some of the individual contributors are on their own, but still quite tasty.

Great overall blend of geuze. Nose of green unripe fruits, fine lactic notes in the taste. Not to overwhelminig acidity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2013 Yeah, I really like this gueuze. Highly citric; lemon citrus all day! Funky cheese, lemon lime, straw, horse blankets, funky yeast (more funky than earthy), and has citrus to spare.

Update: Had the ’09 again last night and want to bump this up a tad, as it’s consistently been fantastic every time I’ve tried it. ’11 is drinking very nicely right now too, yet the ’09 is clearly superior. I’m glad this still flies under the radar as it’s one of my very favorite gueuze.
