4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 MiP (11783) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JAN 11, 2010
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2010 Bottle, 7%. Very nice earthy, citric aroma, smells like 3 Fonteinen. Hazy dark golden colour. Sparkling, leaving a small bubbly white head. High carbonation. The flavour is sweeter than expected, still nicely earthy. Good citric flavour, very well-rounded. Mild and pleasant. The carbonation is too high for me, the flavour gains a lot after the beer has been swirled around a bit. 8 3 9 3 20

Bottle 75cl at home. I was very excited to try a Geuze that contained so many base lambics and this one lived up to my expectations. The nose is very similar to the 3F Geuze. Very lively and fresh with plenty of Brett and funk. The sourness is there but its a great balance and compliments the beer. I hope that this is made again! My favourite Geuze so far.

Pours out gold with lots of bubbles. Smells sour and somewhat funky. Flavor is quite tart with some mild funkyness. Great citrus and sour fruit flavors. Not sweet, nice dry mellow finish. A great Geuze.

Seriously this is one of the best beer I’ve ever had. It was of course acidic but also rather flowery with wonderful sweet notes. Had it on a small street bar in Brussels and hated myself for not buying these cheap when I had the chance. Dear Pierre - thank you for selling this to us.

Big thanks goes out to Kevin MrChopin for this special brew! Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 7/9/2009 Pittsburgh RB tasting extravaganza (PGHRBEXT) at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I see a spread of bottles like I did there. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we served! For example, how about this beer; Horal bottle #58! Smell is quite like tart candy with a funky farmy background. Good initial taste sensations, wew, simply very tasty. Big foamy pour and a slight haze on an otherwise pale lager appearance. Lacks the typical funk but is just plain fun on the tastebuds. Very nice tingly palate. One fine enjoyable brew. Sour, tart and easy. Some mild bitterness but nothing detracting. Very excellent beer tasting experience. Love those sour brews, my favorite! Wish I had more of this stuff!

Sampled at the ’09 RBPTE, courtesy of MrChopin. Great funky sour nose, with barnyard and horse blanket, tons of Brett and a light hop presence. Citrusy. Light amber hazy body with a large frothy white lacing head. Medium thin body with lively carbonation and a chalky finish. Moderate bitterness with huge sour funky flavors throughout and into the after with a chalky end. Terrific gueuze.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2011 [2009] Hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of wood, bretts, and nice bacterias, and some citrus, very funky. Taste of much of the same, with a sour bite in the finish.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAY 29, 2011
2009 bottling, bottle no. 12739, courtesy 4.4-40. The cork shot out of this puppy like a rocket as soon as the cage was loosened. The body is a hazy dark golden color. A thin white film settles in at the head and lasts for the duration of the drink. Aromas are funky as all hell, showing a strong, pervasive barnyard must all the way from start to finish. Notes of horseblanket, footy cheese, and musty old basement are distinct. Dust and old, soured, slightly seasoned wood are too. Sharp, pithy lemon acidity walks in step with all the must, providing its citric counterpoint. Flavors follow suit, intensely musty and loaded with aged farmhouse cheese, sourdough bread, and tangy apricots. Old wet wood and sharp, oily lemon are wonderful compliments. Dusty brett and sour lacto are both wild and focused at the same time. Delicious stuff. This beer just feels ALIVE.....and it is. The palate is substantial for a gueuze, showing a good amount of smooth malt to counter the spritzy, dusty, drying body. Awesome stuff. I should have bought a ton of this stuff when I had the chance.

(2011 750ml)A geuze orgy of differing beers that marries to make a classy bier . nose suggests sweaty feet, cheesey hops..white grapes..tart green apple , shit and barnyard intentions. In the mouth its mellow at this age , sweaty cheese ,must ,brett , notable richness shows up to make this complex ,rounded , very drinkable and pretty excellent.
