Cask at NWAF, 2011. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Coffee, butterscotch, milk chocolate and caramel aromas. Butterscotch and vanilla flavours with some light coffee notes. Dry, smoky finish.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 3 December 2009. Dark red in colour. Loose beige head. Roasty and nutty aroma. Some sweetness on the palate. Chocolate comes through later. Rich mouthfeel. Not too alcoholic. Lingering coffee aftertaste. Very good indeed.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear BF 09. Very dark ruby, lasting thin ivory head. Roasted choc aroma. Dry malt, smells quite full. Enormously drinkable, doesn’t taste of 6%. I liked it. Smooth, with hop finish, really quite bitter.

Cask. A deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt - sweet as well as roasted as well as notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt again both sweet and roasted, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish.

Cask in the Market Porter. Alround rating: Roasty burnt malt, coffee also, fairly sweet with a bit of molasses, bitterness of the roasted malt rather than hop. Not my style.

Cask at the Market Porter, 6% ABV. Smoky, ashy, but a bit short. Deceivingly light bodied, feels like a low alcohol beer.

Cask Handpump at the Angel, Manchester 06/12/2009 Fruit aroma. Dark red coloured hoppy and fruity bubble gum flavour with a little dryness in a crisp and bitter burnt roast malt finish.

Favourite beer at Manchester Winter Ales 2008. Finally got Steamhouse in Urmston to get a barrel a couple of months ago and was not disappointed. Complex chocolate, coffee and molasses flavours balanced by excellent hoppy taste. Should be brewed all year long!!

On handpull at Ye Cracke, Liverpool 28-11-08. The abv of this was 6% and it was called Mistress Zad Dark Domintaion but looking at the commercial description this is the Oct to Dec version. Pours dark brown in fact its almost black with an off white small bubbly head. Dark roasted molassess dominate proceedings but the expected juicy hops also burst through. Some cold coffee dregs are also present, it’s a very decent beer. A6 A4 F8 P4 OV15 3.7

Cask at Manchester Winter Ales Festival. Another Manchester beer, good work. Dark brown in appearance. Smells of coffee, chocolate. Nice aroma. Lots of flavour, lovely finish. Fine drink.
