A Mes rate: Gravicask at Fin’s excellent Merton Beer Festival. Bright blonde with a thin bubbly head and good condition. Slight chlorine but some citric hops and a decent earthy malt backbone sort it out. Initially restrained bitterness in the finish lingers and grows for quite a while. Not bad.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Merton Summer BF. A blonde beer with a loose whitish head. The aroma is pretty simple with a bit of nettle. The taste has some bitterness and a little sweetness. Quite ordinary really and not showing the hops one would rightfully expect from a thus name beer.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Fin (5749) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2008
Cask, gravity dispense at Merton Summer Beer Festival July 18th and 19th 2008 I had this on a few occasions over the course of the weekend and whilst it was fine I felt that this one was going to be better than it actually was. Poured light golden in colour with white frothy small head. This was tasty and refreshing and a decent session ale but it lacked the sort of bite and depth that I’d hoped for. There was a nice hoppiness at the end but maybe I was expecting more in this department, still it can’t really be faulted in the decent tasty session beer catergory and maybe I should just lower my expectations a little.

Cask conditioned at Merton Summer B.F ’08. Gold with white head. I do enjoy standard Best Bitters and I did enjoy this one. No big flavours nor any gimmicks, this is a good old English, if a bit pale, Bitter. Easy drinking, refreshing body, dusty, biscuity and dryly hopped. Good stuff.
