Hornbeer Barleywine is a golden coloured beer with high carbonation and a bit of extra hops making it fresh to drink even if it is a strong thing of 10% alcohol. Barleywine is a desert beer that should be served in small glasses, preferably wine glasses, in order to be able to enjoy the handsome colour and the carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. We have brewed our barleywine on 5 different barley malts, wheat malt, sugar, hops, yeast and water. The beer has refermented on the bottle - therefore, it might have some yeast bottom residues.

To piwo wygląda cudownie, mętna miedź, z bujną idealnie oblepiającą szklankę pianą. W aromacie przeważają słody, karmel, toffi, tosty, odrobina orzechów. Smak to głównie słodowa baza, z owocowymi (figi, rodzynki, winogrona) posmakami, w tle chleb tostowy, karmel. I w głowie. Świetne piwo.

Slightly hazy, dark amber. Frothy offwhite head. Floral, caramely aroma. Similar flavour but with a clear malt profile. Alcohol is both well hidden and warming.

Bottle. Pours clear darkish amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, fruit and caramel, with notes of yeast and hops and vinous touches. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with pronounced sweet notes of caramel malt and fruit. Bitter aftertaste with sweet-sourish notes. Well-hidden alcohol given the ABV. Well-balanced and nice.

50 cl, flaske, 10,0 % ABV, 50 års-gave fra Michael Drejer - tak! 5. juni 2014.

Color: golden amber beer with small carbonation and small white foam. Smell: high malt complexity with sugar notes as sugar cane and brown sugar. Taste: nice malt and fruity notes as crystallized apricot. Nice high viscosity on mouth with good sugar balance. Great beer. Aftertaste: nice equilibrium of malt, sugar and bitterness. Really drinkable! Great beer!!!

Golden to amber colour and high carbonation to give a bubbly head. All the typical barley wine aromas are there although it is not on the sweet side of the barley wine scale. Well developed, not cloying. Caramel, sticky fruit compote, even some leather. Really liked this one, fits my taste buds very well. (Bottle shared by Fux in between festival sessions during the 1FRBG)

On draught @ Craft Beer in Brighton, U.K. This beer is very curious. On the nose, it smells of Juicy Juice left in the sun. As far as taste goes, it's not your typical barley wine. Much hoppier and much more carbonated. A thick mouth feel, but not syrupy like other barley wines. Caramel-sweet, with a dark amber color.
