COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle @ Max. Pitch black, medium tan head that quickly settles, nice lacing. Aroma, roasted malts, smoke notes, licorice, wood, coffee, chocolate. Taste, roasted malts, smoked malts, dry liquorice, chocolate, wood, burnt sugar. Dry roasted smoke aftertaste. Nice mouth feel.

Keg at Cask P&K. Black, big foamy tan head endures, even lacing. Aroma is sweet and smokey, similar sort of vibe to the taste. Body is medium, touch of spritz, a little foamy. Taste is fabric plasters, sweet, smokey, touch of TCP and whisky, finishes dry and astringent with some floral pot pourri hop character. Decent. Somewhere between a 3.7 and 3.8.

Bottle - Smoke, dark chocolate and a bit of dark fruit. Jet black with a huge chocolate brown head. Rich dark chocolate and nice smoke with a lingering light bitterness. Rich mouth feel

Tap at Craft, Angel, 27th June 14. Really good impy, tastes almost barrel aged, lots of smokey peat, great taste and aroma, good mouth feel, easy drinking

No-sunlight-can-penetrate-darkness-from-the-depths body with a dark tan head, no bubbles. Smoke, cocoa, coffee, malt nose with a hint of hops. Flavor of bold and heavy malt with some bitterness. Coffee-like impressions remain for the aftertaste. Smooth as silk MF, goes down easy despite the 10% ABV.

What else could you ask for? Black Magic Women gives an odour of peat smoke, soya sauce and molasses. Nice and oily, the smoke if in the front and doesn’t linger. I really like the balance of the alcohol, the roasted malt, the smokiness and a tad earthy. Very tasty. Purchased at Metro liquor University Heights for around $10. Yum.

Black thick body and tan head. No, the head is thick brown, most impressive. Aroma of fuel, oil, rye. Holy moly, this is the darkest rawest imperial stout I’ve had for a long time. Deepness of balsamic vinegar, tannic red wine and mature blue cheese. It’s crazy! Taste is equally deep and raw. Liquid marmite. All strange associations aside, this is an awesome imperial stout with real character. And seriously, who puts a beer like this on freaking 50cl bottles? (50cl bottle from SpeciaalBierPakket)

pours very dark brown with a tall creamy medium dark beige head, good retention and strong lacing. minty resin, dense and doughy bittersweet chocolate, charred and smoky maltiness - lots of smoke in fact, well integrated booze, spices - licorice, some sweetness - molasses - with its iron component, hint of iodine and dusty metal. moderate carbonation, medium to full body - oily and sticky, smooth mouthfeel, bold smoky-grassy-peppery-resinous finish. not harsh though. good stuff.

Tap @ Ölhus Stockholm. Black, one finger, thick brown head. Roasted, coffee, chocolaty, oat aroma. That is some inviting stuff. Flavor has coffee, roastedness, licorice, dark bready, malaxlimpa like stuffy, sweet. Full bodied. Awesome IS. So good to find this on draft in Helsinki. Lingering smoky finish

A kick-ass beer. Peated and smoked malts, like smelling the burning heather of northern Jutland all the while tasting the chocolate covered strong maltprofile. Add to that a strong alcohol to tickle your nose, what’s not to like? Sublime!

a good but not great imperial stout. nothing memorable but not flawed to the point where i noticed. not worth paying import price for a 500ml bottle.
