Copenhagen 19/7 2015. 50 cl bottle. Gift from my in-laws. Clumsy drawing of what I suppose is supposed to be a Black Magic Woman on the label. Pours opaque black with creamy beige head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam with heavy lacing. Aroma is toffee and caramel - and a little smoke. Soft carbonation. Powerful and distinctly bitter taste complemented by a little sweetness for balance. The smoky taste comes in as well especially in the aftertaste. Fullbodied and creamy mouthfeel. An acquintance described is as licking the hull of a fishermans boat. I do not think it was meant as a compliment. It ought to be.

Pours black with a large tan head. Nose shows hefty peat along with some more woody smoke notes. A bit of chocolate and roast too. Similarly smoky flavours, lots more peat. A fair whack of roast and some booze and herbal hop bitterness.

Smooth malty beginning. Lots of sweetness, round with roasted woody hints. Nice malty body with hints of nuts without too much sweetness. Caramel, roasted sugar. A bit viscous. Malty-bitter, sweetish-viscous aftertaste, but not too sugary. Nice malty-intense round and smooth. Very nice.

Bottle. Pitch black, oily, thick with creamy and stable head. In aroma chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasted and black malts, peated notes. In flavour sweet with all fantastic aromas coming as flavours - dark chocolate, belgian pralines, low roastiness and nice alcohol warming. I’d like only those peated notes to show in flavour but it’s just great as it is. Full bodied and softly carbonated it’s very silky on the palate. Great beer.

500 ml bottle bought from Les Vignerons and drank at Wench Pub with Saso. Pitch black, poring pretty much like motor oil, with a big, creamy and persistent dark beige head. Powerful nose with all those components you expect from such a beer: milk chocolate, espresso coffee, vanilla beans, toasted malts and just a subtle meaty presence. Not much alchool per se. Pretty sweet through out, perhaps there is a hint of grainy bitterness but it’s almost non existent. Dark chocolate and vanilla in the taste, with a pleasent moderate warming sensation. Slick and sirupy as expected, coating the lips with every sip, but ridicolously drinkable for the ABV. Soft carbonation, medium to full body, oily texture. Really great.
