COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

[Sampled with the duo Svoger & Svogergylp at DØE, Valby, 2009.] Another fantastic brew from Jørgen. Smooth look of black and offwhite head. Notes of roasted coffechocs, licorice and smoke. Quite fast drinkable compared to other imp. stouts, which lasts for longer. Great complex and with a long aftertaste!

Bottle: Thanks to Fonefan. Very nice vast brown foamy head with a black beer beneath the foamy covering. Smell tar, carbon dioxide, burnt malts, smoke and a hint of some dark ingredients like dark spices and earth. Taste is a full bodied mix of tar, smoke, espresso, earth, burnt wood, coal, bitter. All in all a dark black tasting beer with uber dark ingredients. Full bitter grassy coffee aftertaste. Low carbo, full body and soft, almost silky, mouthfeel.

Foffern (285) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 8, 2012
Bottle sample at Beer Enthusiast release tasting, Bergen. Pours a very black colour with a small light brown head. Looks like espresso. I could not have dreamed of a better aroma where I found leather, tar, strong coffee, dried fruit and a touch of smoke. Smoke is even more evident in the flavour with touch of fire/burnt wood, coffee, bitter chocolate and dark, dark, sweet berries, chocolate truffles and port wine. Oily mouth feel, and light bitterness. A beautiful imperial stout with great balance

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2011 Pours pitch black, even against the light, with a thick brown head that disappears quickly. Chocolate, fruit, some hops, and a bit of alcohol in the aroma. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, cream, honey, licorice, ashes, some smoke and a cocoa bitterness. Not much alcohol in the flavour. Quite complex and very nice. Raised it from 4.3 to 4.4 after having it on draught.

A Mes rate. Bottle at home.
Excellent pitch black looks with an equally good tan head and plenty of lace. Aroma reminds me somewhat of the newer bottles of Pannepot. It has that same black inky character. Hugely sweet but the roasty character is just brilliant. Not much in the way of chocolate or coffee or the other usual stuff, just really smoky luscious malt with a developing late bitterness. Bloody brilliant all round.

Draught at Danish Regional Beer Festival, Esbjerg 2009. Dark brown with a huge brown head. Aroma of coffee and malty sweetness. Flavor is roasted malt, hints of smoke, hops and dried fruit. Roasty and hoppy finish. Very good brew.
