COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Smooth malty beginning. Lots of sweetness, round with roasted woody hints. Nice malty body with hints of nuts without too much sweetness. Caramel, roasted sugar. A bit viscous. Malty-bitter, sweetish-viscous aftertaste, but not too sugary. Nice malty-intense round and smooth. Very nice.

Bottle. Pitch black, oily, thick with creamy and stable head. In aroma chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasted and black malts, peated notes. In flavour sweet with all fantastic aromas coming as flavours - dark chocolate, belgian pralines, low roastiness and nice alcohol warming. I’d like only those peated notes to show in flavour but it’s just great as it is. Full bodied and softly carbonated it’s very silky on the palate. Great beer.

500 ml bottle bought from Les Vignerons and drank at Wench Pub with Saso. Pitch black, poring pretty much like motor oil, with a big, creamy and persistent dark beige head. Powerful nose with all those components you expect from such a beer: milk chocolate, espresso coffee, vanilla beans, toasted malts and just a subtle meaty presence. Not much alchool per se. Pretty sweet through out, perhaps there is a hint of grainy bitterness but it’s almost non existent. Dark chocolate and vanilla in the taste, with a pleasent moderate warming sensation. Slick and sirupy as expected, coating the lips with every sip, but ridicolously drinkable for the ABV. Soft carbonation, medium to full body, oily texture. Really great.

Bottle shared at a smoked beer tasting at our place. Black, with a frothy tan head. A little phenolic, a little peaty, with sunflower seed saltiness in the nose as well as cocoa. Chocolate, a little smoke and a little phenol in the mouth. Full body, mildly phenolic finish and quite fizzy.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Black with a big light brown head. Aroma of roast, coffee, a bit of licorice, a cocoa note. Roasty flavor with coffee, a bit of licorice, some bitter chocolate. Quite full-bodied.

Piwo jest nieprzejrzyście czarne z piękna, intensywną pianą, niesamowicie zdobiąca szkło. Aromat zdominowany jest chmielem. Mamy dużo nut trawiastych i ziołowych, pomiędzy, którymi majaczy delikatny dym - kojarzący się z szynką. W tle ukazuje się gęsta, skondensowana czekolada w płynie. Od pierwszej chwili kubki smakowe atakuje goryczka, wzrasta od średniej do średnio-wysokiej. Doskonale równoważy ją pełnia piwa, z posmakami kawy i czekolady oraz nut wędzonych w tle. Każdy łyk pozostawia posmak mocnego espresso z ziołowym charakterem chmielu.

Keg at CBC Clerko, 15/04/15. Pitch black with a decent tan covering retains well, good lacing ensues. Nose is bitter roast, chocolate, spice, charr, toffee. Taste comprises chocolate, light smoke, dark fruit rinds, toffee fudge, roast malt, molasses, earthy vibes. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation - overcooked in this department, semi drying close with a touch of warming booze but kept will in check for a double digit number.
