COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Appearance: Sinful dark color, with a creamy beige head.
Aroma: Coffee, rum and chocolate.
Palate: Full body. Slightly sweet and a mild bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Complex and heavy stuff. Roasted malt, coffee, light fruity, rum and some chocolate. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: Not so much rum that I hoped. Anyway powerful nice evening sipper.

Lovely heavy malt brew with tons of big coffee and roast notes. The pour is really dark and viscous with a mild creamy tan head atop. Nose of pure rum or cane liquor with big roasted malts. Sweet and heavy taste with big mouth feel and noted rummy note. Exceptional beer overall.

Initially a good taste with clearly discernible taste of rum, coffee and liquorice but also an intrusive alcohol flavor that makes the overall impression becomes a carbonated watery Jägermeister.

Enjoyed this one a lot. A very dark appearance with a rich taste. Felt hints of coffee with a dark roast. My friend described the taste as "an ashtray" another as a "rich cigarette". All in all, a very good beer that I recommend to everyone.

A lot of flavours. Chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, rum and roast. The carbonation seems now to be fixed from earlier bottles. Great balance.

ar: Oh, Hornbeer, how you can produce a beer that just smells great! Thick layers of coffee, ash, chocolate, roastiness and alcohol that are rich as can be, yet velvety smooth, vanilla, some herbs and light notes of licorice, undefined earthy fruitiness and light, light soy sauce. Absence of a 10 is because I can’t detect any rum. Ap: Black as a scandinavian winter’s night, small brown head that dissipates and creates a ring. F: licorice, quite salty, coffee, ash, chocolatey, some vanilla and rum in the finish, paired with soy sauce and a warming note, bitterness is light to medium for the style. P: full bodied and soft carbonation. T: If the rum would have been more noticable this would have been a slam dunk, now you have to look for it. Still this is impressive and together with Mikkeller Hornbeer compose the vanguard of Danish quality brewing!

Bottle from local Vinmonopol. Best before 2022. I might get more bottles to age! Anyway, it pours a quite pitch black brew, with a small "cappucino coloured" head. The aroma is dark and fruity. Some chocolate, coffee and caramel. Big body, low carbonation. Lots of stuff going on in the flavor here! Let’s try to describe it: first, I get licorice, then toasted bread, then coffee, then chocolate, and there’s a general note of (burned) wood all around, with hints of smoke. The 11 % abv is noticable. Some artificial pear flavor in the beginning. Hints of leather. Very well balanced. Everything is nicely integrated. I don’t get much rum/spices. Overall it’s pretty darn delicious!
