English: We have brewed on this beer on a long time and we finally think it is a should. A very majestic stout with a hint of roasted barley malt, smoke malt, coffee, some spices and to top it all a drop of rum. The beer has been seasoned on oak wood. This beer can stored many years in a dark closet or cellar, but is also ready to drink when it leaves our brewery. Buy an extra bottle and stash it for a special occasion in some years. It will develop like a god wine- only get better and better by the years.

0.5l bottle. Yupp, this is a black one, and it has an impressive looking big espresso-chocolate brown head. Lovely aroma with chocolate, burned woodwork, stingy hops, sweet fresh baked brownies, heavy roasted malts and sweet chocolate cake. There is also traces of vanilla and cocoa. Quite deep, complex and really nice. It’s somewhat on the sweet side this, but the roasted burned flavor compensate nicely. Small prickling carbonation level with a thick oily mouthfeel. Deep dark flavors here. I get bitter chocolate, woody rum, a strong sweetness with a herbal twitch. Also some thick sweet fudgey flavor in between here. Ends with a long dry and burned finish. Lots of things going on in this. A nice sipper that works great as a last-of-the-evening-beer. 17.11.2012

Shared 500ml bottle. Thanks bluus. Pours black with a small, richly dark mocha-colored head. Aroma is burnt sugar, chocolate, some coffee there as well. Roasted of course, light liquorice. Taste is roasted, chocolate, coffee, light sweet rum constantly hovering in the background. You can feel the alcohol, but fortunately no ethanol in the taste. Aftertaste is roasted and coffee with some dark chocolate in the background. Palate is full and smooth, not much carbonation.

Bottle (50cl) from Vinmonopolet (Vika), Oslo. Pitch black colour. Inch-thick dark beige head, settling as a thin bubbly layer with a bit of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate/cocoa, dark rum, licorice. Full body, soft carbonation. Very sweet taste, balanced by a discreet acidity and a growing bitterness that becomes quite astringent in the finish. Worked well with a ’mocca flan’ dessert.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Manglerud enjoyed at home
Pours like used engine oil, low dark brown head, nice laces. Smells of dark roasted malts, caramel, coffee and rum. Some harch burned wood aromas that i don’t like that much. Medium sweet, burned malts, coffee and some booze. Moderate bitter finish. Quite a brutal one; hard hit you in the face aromas and flavors. I’m quite a fan, but as always i’m looking for more balance and harmony in the beer

Draught at VilleValla Pub. Opaque black liquid with small tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark fruit, wood, booze, banana and ash. Weird. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of ash/coffee, banana and biscuit. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Meh.

500 ml bottle. Impenetrable black colour, thin brown head. Sweetish aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, with some acidic and fruity notes. Flavour of roasted malt, sweetish raisins & rum, coffee, chocolate. The finish is ashy, warm, with herbal hoppy bitterness. Delicious.
