COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: We have brewed on this beer on a long time and we finally think it is a should. A very majestic stout with a hint of roasted barley malt, smoke malt, coffee, some spices and to top it all a drop of rum. The beer has been seasoned on oak wood. This beer can stored many years in a dark closet or cellar, but is also ready to drink when it leaves our brewery. Buy an extra bottle and stash it for a special occasion in some years. It will develop like a god wine- only get better and better by the years.

courtesy of Antonio Ruiz - pours a dark black colour under a solid and persistent dark beige foam; nice lacework; roasted chocolatey nose with notes of potatoes, full-bodied and creamy mouthfeel, sweet and thick, low bitterness, long roasted coffeish finish with notes of rum - a strange but interesting mixture

Pours a black color with a nice brown head. Aroma of coffee (quite dominating), chocolate, toffee and some citrusy hops in the background. Flavour is coffee, chocolate, toffee and some nice citrusy/grapefruity hops. Lightly warming alcohol, but not much rum. Fullbodied with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Lingering bitterness. Nice one.

Appearance: 4/5 Black liquid with a medium light brown foam. Also some sediment in the bottom. Smell: 8/10 Not very intense but interesting. Booze, chocolate, coffee, nuts and some roasted notes. Taste: 8/10 Quite strong and puckering taste. Chocolate, coffee, nuts, wood, roasted, some sweetness, hint of dark rum and an alcoholic finish. Mouthfeel: 5/5 Smooth, creamy and thick mouthfeel, the liquid coated my mouth and stuck around for a while. Comment: Very nice and interesting beer. Felt complex, yet still balanced, none of the different flavours take over. It had a good mix of chocolate and coffee as I expect from these kinds of beers but there where also some roasted notes, nuts, wood and the hint of rum is what combined the beer. The alcohol was well hidden and the mouthfeel was really nice. A nice beer to sit and sip at for a while. I tried this with some truffles and it worked great, definitely a beer to combine with chocolate.

Bottle at home. Quite possibly shared with someone else. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Smells of Belgian yeasts and smoked malts. Sweet with aromas of vanilla, toasted malts, dark chocolateand lightly smoked malts. Also quite a bit of fruity yeast esters. Hints of alcohol and prunes. Also some rum and plum notes. Full bodied. Gets kinda boring towards the end - after the initial flavour-explotion.

Rune (7995) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JAN 1, 2010
500ml bottle bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen in May last year. Bubbly, tan coloured head partially resting atop of a body that is black as a moonless polar night. Fragile lacing on the glass. Extra score for the cool label design. Roasted cocoa and coffee hints to the nose. Smoked malts in a flavour profile that also brings liquorice, dark vanilla and rum sweetness offset by tart, dark berries towards the finish. Smooth on the swallow. Surprisingly easy to drink. A good start to the New Year (Tromsø, New Year’s Day 2010).
