500ml bottle bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen in May last year. Bubbly, tan coloured head partially resting atop of a body that is black as a moonless polar night. Fragile lacing on the glass. Extra score for the cool label design. Roasted cocoa and coffee hints to the nose. Smoked malts in a flavour profile that also brings liquorice, dark vanilla and rum sweetness offset by tart, dark berries towards the finish. Smooth on the swallow. Surprisingly easy to drink. A good start to the New Year (Tromsø, New Year’s Day 2010).

Bottled. Pours out in a an opaque black colour with a small pale brown head. Rich aroma of black coffee, brown sugar, vanilla, cocoa and raisins. Full-bodied with notes of coffee, burnt sugar, rum, mild spices, and milky chocolate. Long warming finish of rum, roasted malts, mild vanilla, nuts and wood. A well-made after dinner drink.
