Copenhagen 7/10 2016. 50 cl bottle from Meny. Happy Monk on stilts on the label. Pours hazy amber with small white head. Settles as thin patches of foam. Aroma is intensely sugary sweet with raisins, cookies, Belgian yeast, butterscotch and alcohol. Light carbonation and surprisingly thin palate. Flavor is very much on the sweet side. Close to being too much. Almost no bitterness. Sugary aftertaste. I would not fancy the life of a Monk if I had to quench my taste in beer as sugary as this. But then again I would be plastered so quickly that I would hardly notice it.

0.5 bottle. Dark crimson color and a huge, creamy, white head. Aroma of alcohol, pale malts, caramel, some fruits. Taste is malty, caramel, sweet, a tad sour in a fruity way. A medium body, a creamy texture, and a flat carbonation. Finish is medium long and leans towards the sour side of an apple. Overall not a bad beer although it does not resemble a Belgian ale too much.

Backlog rating. Keg at CBC CG, London. It pours a clean golden color with medium white head. Aroma is sweet belgian yeast, fruit notes, light caramel. Taste has light booze, more yeast, light spice and toffee. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, decent belgian, not much funk really

September 17, 2014 - at Craft Clerkenwell; keg. Damn it, minimal and slightly garbled notes - too busy bantering with my brother-in-law! Pours gold, average lasting off-white head. Aroma - and taste - a standard Belgian golden - definite alcohol presence, tons of yeast, quite sweet and fruity, a little funky/tart in the taste - nice enough. Strong carbonation, finishes sweet and almost apple-y - a little too sweet for my tastes, but not bad.
