Towering yellowish head over chestnut-coloured beer. US hops, dry wood, some alcohol, dry hopping seems indicated. Wood, cacaopowder, oak, alcohol. Really complex, yet balanced. Very slick/alcoholic/waroming; near viscous. Excellent Barley Wine. Another Hornbeer they can give me any day - if not in any quantity.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Allen (2689) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 9, 2010
Bottled 50cl. Nicely remaining head which is taller than average for the style. Wonderfully inviting hoppy nose which is perfectly balanced by a luscious malt presence. Complex, full bodied with C-hops reminiscence. Flawlessly brewed and deeply pleasant.

Bottle.
Clear red amber, huge smooth beige head. Looks awesome.
You know those beers that You can smell even thoigh the glass is 40cm away from You? This is that kind of beer.Yummy. arma of flowers, pine "american" hopped, wood, sweet malts. aroma is more like a double-ipa on wood than what i’d expect for a barley wine.
Flavor is sweet malty, good spicy and flowery hop balance, wood. Quite a woody and malty barley wine, with lotts of bitterhoppy balance, as well as some sweeter flowery notes, almost honey. The sweeter flowery notes are partly from the port wine barrel, some port wine flavor too. complex beer as it takes flavors from many things. Nice!.

from erzbierschof.ch - cloudy reddish-brown in colour and with a solid foamy beige head; nice lacework; hoppy aroma of fresh apples, cream and caramel; full-bodied and with a subtle but fair carbonation, creamy palate, mainly sweet and decently bitter; slightly dry hoppy fruity finish with solid malty tones

Draught at The Green Lion Inn, Malmö Hazy amber color. The aroma is a bit cheesy, yeasty, moldy. Good body strength, round; sweet caramel and flavor; more than the expected oak and vanilla, I get cream and cheese rinds. Well, I like sweet and malty beers, but this one is surely weird.
