COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
70 pct kakao. Men Hornbeer Russian Imperial Stout går altså også fint alene!

Sample @ Porterfestivalen in Gothenburg on November 19. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Smell is roasted malts, coffee, minerals and a strange smell of chlorine. Taste is heavily roasted, almost burnt malts, wood, vanilla and sweet dark fruits. Finish is dry and bitter with some ash.

[@ Öl och whiskymässan, Malmö] Väldigt mörk. Kaffe och bräna och rostade toner. Härlig beska.

Copenhagen Beer Festival. Opaque black stout. Dry. A little smoky and quite sweet. Interesting.

Bottle 50 cl, at home. Clear reddish black with a small, light brown head. Aroma of burned malt with notes of ash, pruney dark fruits and tea. Full-body but oddly un-intense flavor, sweet burned malty and again these notes of black tea and dried fruits. Where’s the coffee? Malty bitter finish.

Scopey (3243) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2012
Bottle at Delirium hoppy loft, with Leighton and James. It pours opaque black, with a thick beige head. The nose is dark fruit, blackcurrant, liquorice, treacle and molasses. The taste is roasted malt, caramel, molasses, treacle, liquorice, gingerbread, coffee liqueur and alcohol warmth in the finish. Full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Ok, but a bit unexciting.

Pitch black pour with a thick brown head. Aroma of heavily roasted malt with chocolate. Flavor of roasted, almost smoky malt with chocolate and a bitter finish. The body is medium to full with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. It’s a good beer, but it’s definitely my least appreciated from Hornbeer’s many imperial stouts. It just lacks some personality.

5+ not much aroma, and that’s not because it’s cold.
4 Black and glassy, almost no head, but what’s there is deep tan
7 Pretty bold burnt taste, but not so sophisticated. Ashy corners.
3 Full, but sticky. Finish is dry, and alcoholic, and the long finish is almost grassy.
13 Competent, but lacking something slight almost everywhere compared with the greats.

Dark, almost fully black. Has a brown head, mostly diminishing. Faint malty aroma, Lots of flavor, sweet, malty roasted notes. Chocolate. Syrupy texture. Soft carbonation.

Sweet chocolate aroma. Black color with no head. Sweet chocolate body with a hint of smoke. Smooth light bitter palate. Not bad.
