3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle with a best before of 06-06-2017 thanks to Bu11zeye. Pours with a black hued body with a small tan head that doesn’t last long. The body stains the glass when swirled. Aromas are mildly smokey, tar, iodine, some molasses, dark roast, chocolate, a touch ashy. Flavors are of nicotine, tar, campfire, ashy, iodine. Not a fan of the highly kilned roast choice/amount in this one. Very ashy. Medium bubbles, high viscosity. Acrid.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black body, medium brown head of some longevity, ok lacing. The aroma is very strong and roasted, with dark caramel, coffee and chocolate, and ash, rope and hints of smoke in the back. Also some fruity traces. Lovely! The taste is moderate sweet and heavy bitter. The long-lasting finish is rather alcoholic. Strong flavours of very dark roasted malt, this tastes burnt, with dark roasted coffee and ash. Less strong notes of chocolate, sweet fruits, dark berries and smoke. The body is full, the texture is oily, the carbonation is soft. The demanding and complex flavours, the obvious alcohol and the heavy bitterness make this a slow sipper. A lovely brew, but today it was almost a bit too much. This is a beer you have when you crave something violent and dark.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma has a lot of charred malt notes as well as some light smoke and chocolate. The flavor is similar with charred malt and smoke coming through up front. Smells like a campfire. There are also some chocolate notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nästan helt svart öl med ljusbrunt skum. Doft av rostat kaffe och en del choklad. I smaken tillkommer lite lakrits och läder. Kroppen hade kunnat vara lite kraftigare med tanke på stilen och alkoholhalten.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample from keg. Black with big beige head. Not a great deal in the smell. Taste is very smokey with a bit of an astringent finish. Body is a bit thin for the style. Nice, but doesn’t stand out massively.

Tap at Craft Clerkenwell, 08/07/13.
Mid black with a thin tan covering.
Nose is roast malt, chocolate, dark toffee, mineral tones, sugars, hoppy backnotes.
Taste carries a big earthy mineral bite, roast malts, bitter chocolate, light smoke.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, slick and oily feel, went down nicely.

Heavy and good smell. Heavy flavor but good nonetheless. The aftertaste is long and too heavy. Absolutely lovely beer to drink. One should try this beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl / King of Beer @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
