4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Superbe.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 mL bottle. Terrible packaging. Pours opaque black with a head of cafe au lait foam. Aromas of dark coffee, bitter chocolate, honey, pine and mint. Moderate sweetness balanced with appropriate bitterness and roasty acidity. Surprisingly mild considering it’s designation and whopping 120 IBU, but not in a bad way. Round rather than angular. Big body and modest carbonation, a hint of alcohol, creamy texture.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
It pours opaque black with mahogany highlights; the head is bronze coloured and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: milk chocolate, charcoal, and sweet mash. The taste is medium sweet that finishes medium bitter with a slight astringency; there are notes of: chocolate, black coffee, dark caramel, and charcoal. The palate is medium-full bodied, oily; lightly carbonated, with a medium finish. Overall, a dessert beer or a capper.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma: roasty, dark chocolate, alcohol, chocolate liqueur.
Appearance: deep deep dark, liquid is clear, head is brown, fine and long standig. Taste: full of chocolate, sweet is light with heavy bitter, amazing taste! Palate: body is full , texture is oily, creamy, medium CO2, finish is long and bitter. Genatally beer is great, on start is smooth and goes to be agressive, full of roasty and bitter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Almost oily looking. Aroma of equal parts roasted malt, chocolate and leafy hops first followed by honey, dark fruit and coffee. Flavour is nice and mostly follows the aroma but the hops are slightly more prominent. Long bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Really good stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
pitch black colour. huge coffee grinds and chocolate aroma, it gets more aggressive as it opens up. Jeesus mary and joeseph it just gets bigger and more toasty. Big enough on the palate and doesn’t let up. Just a pleasant brew to have over the course of an hour or two. Beauty.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg thanks to Fergus at Bruce’s Bday tasting. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee grounds, umami, salted liquorice, charred wood and ash. The taste is rich roast, bitter-sweet, some acidity, coffee, dark fruits, burnt toast, earth, ashy and dark fruits with a dry, roasty finish. Full body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Hard astringent aspect puts me off a touch, but there is no denying this is a solid imperial stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at CBC Clerkenwell during Bruce’s bday - big thanks to Fergus for the share. Pours black with a dense beige head. The aroma holds lots of charred bread, mild chocolate, some burnt cereal. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of sugary but bittersweet chocolate, toasted grains, scorched earth, baking cocoa, leathery berries. Full in body with average carbonation. Lightly warming in the finish with lots of bitter charred earth, coffee grounds, burnt grain husk. Punchy stuff. Just a touch overly bitter.
