Men døm selv.
Brygget med kaffe malt, chocolate malt, black malt og honning, tørhumlet og lagret med egetræ og valnød.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2012 A light brown (beige) head covers the pitch black liquid. Pours molasse-like (seems thick) and settles quite nicely. It is lacking a bit of presence in the aroma department but I can feel some roasted character and maybe a bit of sweetness in there. Taste is of roasted malt and malt sweetness. No hops aroma/flavor to speak of so it is not a modern american imp. stout in a way. Good thing it’s from Denmark... Alcohol is not noticed on the tongue or in the nose but it is definitely there! ;) 120 IBU? No way it is for real (or I’m broken)!

Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Jet black in colour with medium carbonation. Potent aromas of dark chocolate, pale malt, and light roast coffee. Acidic and a bith ashy in the mouth, backed by notes of chocolate and black licorice. Light bodied for the style. Smelled better than it tasted unfortunately.

Thanks to GatorGuy92 for the share on this one. Pours a medium brown with a tan head. Nose is licorice, coffee, earth, some peat, and roast. Flavor is similar with licorice, coffee, roast, and earth. Medium in body and lingering earth, roast, and coffee in the finish.

500 ml bottle @ Opus K, Lohja. Pours black with tan head. Immense aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and some warm alcohol. Dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, bitter hops and sweet sugar in the flavour. Extremely delicious.

My Bottom Line :
Chocolate and molasses are given depth by this silky Imperial Stout’s vinosity before roasted malts and hop resins build balancing bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A brown veil of foam garnishes the deep blackness, diminishing to a ring.
-The mouthfeel is rich, but never overbearing.
-This is not super complex, but it is never boring.
-Malt flavors are well defined, and yeast actually adds a nice fruity character.

Bottle at Paul’s. Pours black with good looking beige head. Aroma is of intense roasted coffee and some dark fruit sweetness. Smoky flavors with rich chocolate liqueur and sweet marshmallow cream. Silky chocolate liqueur finish back by bitter earthy notes. Nicely done!

Bottle courtesy of Ryan at a tasting at Paul’s. Pours a deep black to brown with a thin to medium sized dark tanned beige head that falls off quickly. Big roast and malt on the nose with a hefty backbone of dark plums and prune jam. Medium to thick bodied, roast and a bit of smoke, cocoa and chocolate. Warming alcohol starts off right away, lots of richness and warm alcohol. Finishes up with a long bitterness and a bit of bitter cocoa before a dry bakers chocolate finish.
