4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Aroma: chocolate, coffee, bread, roasty. Appearance: Big brow cloudy head, pitch black colour. Taste: Sweet, really bitter, lot’s of coffee, chocolate, wood, intense, takes over your mouth. Palete: full body, thick feel, oily feel, long bitterness. I knew I bought a good beer, but this one surprised me and it deserve it’s name The Fundamental Blackhorn. If you want something in between a Dark Lord and a Oaked Yeti. I fell in love and will try to get more bottles for storing!

500 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served cold in a tulip glass. Deep brown black with a decent mocha head. Huge dark chocolate, black coffee, molasses bordering on licorice, dark, rich, inviting. Medium-full body with fairly full carbonation and a powdery feeling. Quite dark, big dark chocolate, black coffee, slightly nutty, a bit peppery and boozy, leafy, herbal, resinous hops, alcohol is nicely integrated; dry with fairly big bitterness and a long, mouth-coating dark malt finish. Fundamentally good.

1.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Black with a brown foam. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and sweet plummylike sensation. Also more hoppy aroma that is standard for a stout. Great body with a creamy texture. Taste: coffee, liquorice, ofcourse the obvious roasty malt added with a sweetness that isnt overwhelming but nicely balanced. The finish is quite bitter in a sense you would expect rather from a west coast dipa than a stout and I quess this is what makes this beer so interesting and complex. Great beer, though I can not stop thinking what happens as this beer ages?

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours pitch black with smallish tan head. Deep, dark aroma with roasted malts, a hint of vanilla from the oak, herbs and some fragrant flowery and berry flavoured candy notes. Full bodied palate. On the sweet side with some of the honey emerging, balanced beautifully by a big hit of bitterness. The finish is long.

500ml brown bottle poured into a snifter glass. Appearance is brownish black with a medium sized creamy brown head with good retention. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts and nutty notes. Flavours of dark chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, coffee, bread and muscovado. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, thick texture and average carbonation. Overall Hornbeer The Fundamental Blackhorn is delicious, but maybe slightly too sweet.
