Bottle, at Patrick’s. It’s more or less black, topped by a small, dense, light tan head. The aroma is roasted and chocolatey, with a faint touch of chilli and licorice. Some sweetness in the flavor, with licorice, some chili and lots of mocha. It’s lightly chili warming on the palate, full bodied and soft carbonation. Long finish with a good blend of mocha and chili. 130919

Bottle from Copenhagen, pours deep oily black with a thin lacing beige head. Treacle, coffee and spice on the nose. Palate is heavy and syrupy, laden with burnt black treacle and a bit of cocoa, touches of coffee and gravy, and a salty, drying though well balanced alcohol bite. Chili coming through in the middle body and warming the finish.

Cask is what I wrote down, GBWF 2013, from my massive backlog. Black with a large, creamy, capuccino head. Aroma: used coffee grounds/sump, roasted, licorice, green fruity chili. Taste: used coffee grounds/sump, fruity chili, chocolate, licorice. The finish has a nice chili bite. Wasn’t too fond of this at the beginning, but it grew on me, and I liked it.
