Tap @ food festival Aarhus. Pitch black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma, roasted malts, chocolate, dry liquorice, you can sense the chilli. Taste, roasted malts, coffee, licorice, chocolate, chili. Nice dry roasted aftertaste, with tickling chilli.

Bottle from Copenhagen, pours deep oily black with a thin lacing beige head. Treacle, coffee and spice on the nose. Palate is heavy and syrupy, laden with burnt black treacle and a bit of cocoa, touches of coffee and gravy, and a salty, drying though well balanced alcohol bite. Chili coming through in the middle body and warming the finish.

Cask is what I wrote down, GBWF 2013, from my massive backlog. Black with a large, creamy, capuccino head. Aroma: used coffee grounds/sump, roasted, licorice, green fruity chili. Taste: used coffee grounds/sump, fruity chili, chocolate, licorice. The finish has a nice chili bite. Wasn’t too fond of this at the beginning, but it grew on me, and I liked it.

Bottle from Skjold Burne. Pours black with a small brown head that rests down to a thin film. Aroma has a lot of really roasted malt, fresh coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and sweet notes. Taste is sweet up front followed by very roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, sweet notes and a slowly rising chili heat at the end. Mouth feel is thick and smooth, full bodied, medium carbonation. After taste is chocolatey bitter dry with a lingering chili heat.
Well balanced chili stout, would definitely drink again!

CloakedDagger (1104) - - AUG 10, 2013
Bottle 50 cl. Pours an opaque pitch black wiith a creamy, light brown head. Sweet coffeeish roasty nose with a vague chili hint. Rich, fat body, quite some molasses and sweet vanilla. A vague, late chili bite and some alcohol heat. Not bad. 100813
