One finger mocha head, fades slowly to thin sheet. Very dark brown/black. Big powdery chocolate aroma with chilli pepper spice. Rich dark chocolate up front followed by light licorice then chilli spice tickle in the finish/aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with alcohol drying in the finish.

500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass, 06.07.2025. Deep brown black with a fairly tight deep mocha head. Lots of dark chocolate, a faint red wine note, a little pepper fruitiness, a black peppery spiciness, quite good. Medium-full body with almost moderate carbonation. Lots of dark chocolate with fair pepper fruitiness and spiciness, other warm spices; somewhat sweet with a decent amount of heat and a long, mostly dark chocolate finish. Quite good.

Pours thick opaque black, creamy tan head. Aroma licorice, sweet bready malt some ash. Flavor of smooth roast, some licorice, chocolate, more ashy notes. The heat hits in the aftertaste, gives the beer a bit of a carbon pencil lead type of aftertaste.

Kauge (941) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 14, 2015
Bottle from LCBO. BB 2025. Pours a sludgy dark brown with a dark tan head. The head is moderate in size and drops rather fast. The aroma is... fckn awesome! Red powdered chili! With bitter chocolate nibs! And dark roast coffee! Sweet, chocolaty... the chili is so nice when the beer’s in the mouth, and gets biting in the finish, yet it’s not too aggressive. Just enough for moderate spice-tooths. Soft, smooth, pretty heavy on the tongue. Nearly no carbonation. Aah, it’s so good. No point in eating or drinking anything after this.

jksipa (613) - Newmarket, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 8, 2015
Bottle from the LCBO. Aggressive pour produces just a minimal dark khaki sheet on top of absolute black. Nose is dark chocolate and espresso, with hints of licorice and vanilla and an ominous chipotle like smokiness lingering in the background. Flavour is lightly sweet with a moderate chocolate and coffee bitterness. The spice of the chilis appears mainly as a warming finish. Mouth is medium+ and oily with soft carbonation and a long warming finish that is a combination of the peppers and the alcohol. Quite complex and the chili is well integrated and not overpowering.

500ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Deep black in colour with a thin tan head, light lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, vanilla, deep roast, coffee. The flavour is moderately sweet, lots of chocolate, some smoke, chilis in the back. Finishes long, sweet, light lingering chili heat. Good.

Blue skies are turning into gray clouds here in Toronto & the temperature is dropping, winds are lashing & cold rain is hinting of winter. Bring on the imperial stouts. Pours darker & more foreboding then the recent polls in the Canadian election, with a dark brown sugar coloured cap. This is a busy stout: smoke, dark bitter chocolate, slivers of liquorice spicing & a nice chili pepper after burn. A little boozy but the balance is pretty impressive considering all the moving parts in this beer. Ms tiki steals a sip & says it tastes like something that oozed out of an engine. Reading the other reviews is half the fun with this one: the review directly below me suggests that a child is part of the ingredients & some of the scores are so high (especially the one a few below that writes that he cant taste anything but still pins a 4.7 score to the beer) that you wonder if the 10% is knocking some brains around. Recommended.

500 mL bottle. Looks like a stout, but not much head. Some complexity in the nose, with roast and coffee grounds, and the chili is more of a vibe than a discrete scent. The child’s and, I presume, hops, lend an interesting and unique spicy/floral note to this beer. The flavour is a perfect balance of roast,, spicy peppers, and maraschino cherry. Damn, I love this brewery.

TorbenJensen (1394) - Valby, DENMARK - SEP 2, 2015
This stout has a solid, stable foam that does not allow much flavor to release. Light smoke and chocolate still releases through, but the mocha colored rich foam testify good beer below. The taste is dark chocolate with a little smoke as tang. Roasted coffee beans give the fullness and great taste, while smoked malt lightly caresses the taste buds. Easy hoppy aftertaste where chili gradually get more grip on things and contribute to a slight burning sensation in the mouth but in a pleasant way. English licorice outweigh the chili in a harmonious combination of seductive pleasure and enjoyment.
