A bit too much laqurice. Almost black coloured with a light-brown head, diminishing. Heavy laqurice aroma, medicine, sweet.

Bottle at home. Aroma is dark malt, lots of creamy chocolate, roast, surprisingly strong dark fruits, jam, pleasant chili peppers, vanilla, some coffee, hint of liquorice. Flavour is about medium sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Leaves a little chili burn in the throat. Lovely and complex Imperial Chili Stout.

Bottle - 500ml. Pours a thick, opaque, black body with very low carbonation and a thick, fading brown foamy head. Strong, well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with cocoa, roasty, plummy, and peppery hints. Alcool is subtle. Its rich malty/hoppy taste carries strong licorice notes. Ends with a warming peppery finish. Interesting, but a bit weird.

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Brown head. Black beer. Aroma of roast, hops, ash, herb, coffee, tobacco, hint of pepper, some bay leaf, chocolate and dust. Flavour is roast, mocha, malt roast, chocolate, pepper taste, dust, meat, bay leaf, tobacco, sweet tar, thick, ash, light smoke, toffee, light caramel, white pepper, etc etc. Dark’n tasty! Aftertaste is malt roast, bitters, some chocolate, light coffee, hint of mocha and bay leaf. Low carbo, oily mouthfeel, close to full bodied. Beautiful complex beer. Thick and rich! Yet quite easy drinkable.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size diminishing frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, light spices and a bit of coffee. Interesting flavour, it’s sweet, roasty and spicy along with a good amount of leafy hops. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. Pretty good beer.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention. Aroma of chili is easily noticeable with some roasted malt and black chocolate notes also easily perceptible. Taste is a mix of roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with strong spicy finish. Body is full with nice creamy body and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol notes. Too spicy for my taste buds and 500ml could be easily share between many people.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark drown with large mocha-coloured head. Aroma is big on both roast and chili pepper with a little sweetness from the cocoa as well as some anise. Flavour has a rich stouty character with lots of cocoa, licorice and molasses, then some moderate chili heat in the finish. Slick mouthfeel. Not too into chili beers but this is one of the better ones.

From bottle. Dark brownish-black in colour, little head. Oily in glass. Taste was strong with both chocolate and the chili pepper but I thought they competed with each other

1/3 pint at CBC Clapham a week or 2 ago. Dark black pour with brown head. Aroma is chocolate, dark malts, licorice and herbs/green pepper. Nice smooth texture. Dry and bitter chocolatey initial taste followed by a bit of vegetal funk from the chilli. Not spicy, more smoked pepper.

2015/12/15 - Pours jet black with a thick, frothy, tan head that slowly reduce and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is chocolate, light vanilla, coffee roast, licorice, chili peppers and light molasses. Taste starts with coffee roast and chocolate, followed by vanilla and licorice and finish with chili peppers and sweet molasses. Mouthfeel is heavy and slick with sharp carbonation. Finish is spicy, moderately sweet, dry and slightly warming. Really nice balance between sweet, spicy and bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
