ChazyRPh (569), Chazy, New York, USA Jan 30, 2007 Bomber from Winooski Bevy - Hazy amber that spouted foam for about 3 minutes. Metallic, rusty aroma. Hint of sourness on the nose as well. Well, I’d say its on the way to being infected. Hypercarbonation, malty caramel, chocolate hints. Otherwise undrinkable. DYCSoccer17 (2004), Davis, California, USA Sep 9, 2006 Bomber purchased at Winooski Discount Beverage. This was about 6 months old at time of consumption. Bottle had been cellared in an idea environment. Metallic, funky, sour and acetic aroma. I get a little sweet caramel in the nose, but this certainly reaks of a possible infection. Very murkey, hazy, dark amber body with and overly huge, frothy, yellowish head. Beginning is off--metallic. Definite infection present. Finish does have some slight redeeming caramelly slight roasted malty tones. Still, this is off. VTHopHead (661), Barre, Vermont, USA Jul 1, 2006 Bomber - Poured a quite dark amber (almost brown) in color with a foamy light tan head that faded to a thin coating on the top of the beer. Aroma is not that great. Elements of malty sweetness and some mild hops, but that is overwhelmed by an unpleasant rubber/bandaid smell that, as a homebrewer myself, I know usually signals a bacteria infection. I have ditched whole batches of beer that exhibited this unwanted characteristic. Flavor is malty and sweet and fairly well balanced with hop bitterness, but (again) there is a "off" flavor similar to that described above and some latent sourness that removes any lasting positive rememberance. I might try this beer again at some point, but I will make sure that I get some that has a significantly newer brew date than the one that I have now. I would place this in the category of some of my earliest homebrew attempts... not something commercially viable and that people pay $$ for. Disappointment... :-( freekyp (791), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Jan 3, 2006 Ughh. Someone needs to check their bottling equiptment. I am pretty sure this one bottle was faulty. Sickeningly tart and somewhat salty, the brew smelled like unfermented yeast. I’m not sure if this is bottle conditioned, but if so, there may have been too much yeast added. That’s a shame because it is a good looking beer. Deep amber with an IMMENSE rocky off white head. Lots of lacing. jjpm74 (2811), Connecticut, USA Oct 20, 2005 Bottle. Pours a muddy amber with a huge off white straw like head. Smells of cobwebs and malty. Taste is semi-sweet with chewable vitamins, chocolate and roasted malt. Finish is somewhat tarte and very metallic.
