COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horny Goat Wheat is a Belgian-Style white beer, craft brewed with wheat, malted barley, hops and a bit of orange peel and coriander. It’s natural haze from yeast and wheat make it a classic to be enjoyed on its own, or with a slice of orange. Horny Goat Wheat loves big cans... those little 12 ounce bottles aren’t enough beer, and cans fully protect the beer from light and oxygen, producing a new level of fresh that you won’t find out of a bottle. Cans are also easier to recycle and better for the environment... as an ecologist if you don’t believe the brainiacs at Horny Goat.

Poured from a bottle to a pint nice head amber color Smells tart, spicy very complex Taste is amazing. Very yeast dominated tartness gives way to the orange and corriander High carbonatoin fits well I really loved this beer. Extremely complex refreshing

One of four 16oz cans bought at Johns Grocery in Iowa City, the other were enjoyed on the disc golf course, which made for a nice round. This time it is served in a Chimay chalice. The aroma is light orange, husky wheat, and a touch of spice. At first, the aroma is faint, maybe due to the coldness, but it opens up nicely over time. The taste is sharp wheat, herbal spiciness, and some fairly prominent orange. The flavor is aided by a velvety, but also crisp body, and mild tartness. Seems well attenuated. I am not sure why this beer is rated so low, it is a very drinkable wit.

Had this one canned in Stevens Point, Wisconsin; thanks Slothgar! Hazy, dark yellow pour with a nice thick and foamy off white head, light malty and ctrusy nose, refreshing limey taste, a bit of baked bread, some spice. Light, soft finish. Actually, very good, especially out of a can.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2008 16oz can. Cloudy orange tan color, nice frothy head. Big-time aroma, lemony and citrus. Big wheaty Hefeweizen taste, very drinkable. Some corn and sugary tastes in there, but the big yeasty unfiltered aspect really shines through. A little funky with some trace wheaty sourness. Good value for a quality product. This is a well done beer, despite the gimmicky name.

The Horny Goat Web site calls this a Belgian Style Saison. I call it good. Very easy to drink. Some Corriander and a slit orange hint. A nice firm head.

Pours a beautiful hazy gold with lots of tiny bubbles capped by a thick white foam. Nose is citrus. Very creamy texture. Nice flavor balance of wheat, citrus and hops. Clean crisp finish. Not as refined as some other Belgian whites, but this brew is a very capable companion on a summer’s eve, either with a slice of orange or with some light picnic foods.

I rated this one a while ago when it was being contract brewed at LaCrosse - not sure why the rating was deleted but I found my notes. Sampled from a 24 oz can this beer poured a very cloudy orange color with a huge yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet, peppery and musty with a fairly strong citrus element. The flavor was sweet and tangy citrus with light undertones of cardboard, pepper and must. The finish was dryish musty citrus. Fairly good body. Solid.

A true Wheat Beer. Great scent, sharp flavor, and a very filling, satisfying drink.

Experienced from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a very hazy (even for a Witbier) medium to light gold, with a white head. Notes of orange come through, as do a bit of spice, but not tremendously clearly, and not to the extent that a Hoegaarden or Allagash White does. The palate is a bit thin, but not inappropriate. Notes of orange, a bit of wheaty smoothness, and just a touch of spice come through. As with the nose, the flavors do not match those represented in the best examples of the style. Overall, a great name, but a relatively pedestrian beer.
