Pours a clear pale golden with a thin ring of white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with a touch of noble hops. Starts with average fullness and light malty sweetness with some faint corn character and grassy hop bitterness before a smooth clean finish. Doesn’t really taste like a saison at all. I thought it was more of a premium lager.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4909) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 2, 2010
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded quickly and produced some lacing. The aroma was dryish, musty, citric and a bit bready. The flavor was dry, musty, citric and tangy with a light bready, wheaty undertone. Medium dry musty and bready finish. Medium body. Ok.

12oz bottle from restaurant in the northwoods. Pours hazy golden with white head. Aroma is grassy with some bready malts and some spice. Flavors of light citrus and bready malts. Would not have guessed this was a saisan. Mouthfeel is a little thick.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a hazy golden color with no head or lacing through out the glass, has a sweet grassy and vegetable aroma, tastes very sweet and has a grassy finish with a hint of clove, really not all that great.

Wheatyweiss (29) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 13, 2010
Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a cheap plastic hotel water glass. No freshness date. Pours a medium straw with a decent head and no cloud. Head leaves a small amount of sticky clumps. Aroma is very light wheat malt with a touch of actual beer aroma. There is the wheat aroma with a rider of corniness? Flavor is crystal malt, wheaty twang is so weak that there is no discernable malt profile. Malt profile seems over spoiled by adjuncts and dirty water. There is an off flavor of hard minerals and potato starch, this water must not be the cleanest. Finishes like it starts weak to the point of almost being water. There is no wild yeast flavors or aromas. There is no substantial malt profile. There is a very small amount of fruitness. Mouthfeel is thin. The only thing that this beer has going for it are the soft edged bubbles that give a little bit of lushness to the mouthfeel. I had to check the website out, since this is listed under a holding, which seems to be slick tongue for a marketing company that buys stuff. Website is full of cheap sexual innuendos and attempts at machismo grabbing manhood jabs. Weak to say the least. I checked the Brewmaster’s name hoping he wasn’t associated with any real craft breweries under contract and I was right, he’s not. Save yourself the frustration, this is a beer for frat boys that want to laugh like idiots at the labels. Bad. Reviewed on: 06-30-2010

12oz bottle. Hazy, cloudy, yellow-orange color. Steady, thin white head. This beer isn’t world class, but it is one thing : a macro saison that manages to capture some of the essence of the style. Sure, it falls short a little bit in the malt category, a little too watery. Sure, the carbonation/effervescence can’t compare to a Belgian. Negatives aside there is a funky lemony wheat flavor that is pretty likable, especially for a Horny Goat product. Creamy easy finish. OK.

Soonah (1120) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - MAY 7, 2010
Poured clear and gold with lots of bubbles and a thin cap of white foam. The aroma was light spice and grass and corn. The flavor was sweet grass and corn with a bit of peppery spice towards the finish. Thin body and a bit overcarbonated.

Pours golden with white head, aroma is bread, lemon zest and some grass. Taste is like a stronger lager, with some lemon, grassy, earth and a slightly dry finish.

Bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey. Light hazy gold pour with a small head. Basically a saison light. Some citrus, yeast and spice, but all very toned down. Not bad. Thanks Bill!

A saison eh? More like a wheat with balls. Smell is rather sweet with hints of citrus perhaps mildly orange. Has a strong candylike sweetness going on there on the taste bud too. Cannot be in the same cat as jolly pumkin bam or silly, no? Could be a lttle more farmy, eh? Goatlike in that you’ll probably get harny after a few of these. Comes on much stronger than the 4.9% listed, Lots of gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Easy twist off cap on a brown bottle. If you make this barrel aged then you can put a barrel on ’er label.
