Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binnyís South Loop) - 04/11/12. Hazy orange/amber with a thin bubbly white head that soon forms a pond and moves to the edges. Nose of caramel malt, hops, a hint of pine, citrus note. Taste follows, a little orange and a touch of bitter grapefruit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish. Pretty boring.

Bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, citrus and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of biscuit, light earthiness and light citrus with a smooth lightly bitter finish.

Got this as a gift, figured it would be hoppy. Pours golden, west coast looking, nothing special. No smell. Hardly any taste, very malty and watery with a kiss of hop bitterness, not nearly as much as you would assume from the name. Avoid this. Just a brewery with a "clever" marketing technique only geared towards college kids. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 10-11-2009 02:40:37

Bottle @ Gregís house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a hazy yellow orange appearance with an off white head. Orange cream, bland, herbal, light veggie aroma. Somewhat chewy bready malty, bitter, bland orange citrusy flavor. Scroll past.

Slightly metallic and too malty for a pale, especially an APA. Really not a lot to get excited about...

Bottle. Clear light orange pour with a small soapy white head. Nose is earthy/grassy hops with a bit of funk. Medium palate. Taste isnít too bad - floral/earthy hops. Certainly drinkable.

Pale amber pour with a thick white head. The nose is a bit sweet and lightly malty with a bit of spicy hoppiness. A touch of light lemon peel and some orange as well. Herbal/woody spiciness behind the fairly spiciness maltiness. The beer is fresh enough but itís just as boring as hell. Itís not really bad, itís just bland.

Pours orange with white head, aroma is some floral and grassy hops. Taste up front is grass, pine, and floral hops with a slight bready malt base with a slightly bitter finish. Not bad, but nothing too good about it.

Bottle to pint. Looks solid; a hazy orange with thin white head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells and tastes of pale malt first and (fairly bitter) hops second. Average on the palate. An underwhelming IPA, but better than itís mean indicates.
