8/31/13 $5 on draft at EGG (East Girard Gastropub) Best part of my meal was this beer. First pumpkin beer of the season. Orange with white head that quickly left. Strong smell of pumpkin spices. Sweet pumpkin flavor with spices and a slight bitter finish. Dinner was terrible BTW ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

HornyCopia Pumpkin Ale has a very thick, foamy, crackling off-white head, a yellow-gold-orange appearance, with bubble streams and powdery sediment evident throughout. Lacing is light and splotchy. The aroma is strong on spices (white pepper & cinammon), with underlying pumpkin pulp and malt. Taste is similar, with a noted peppery aspect. Mouthfeel is medium, and HornyCopia finishes crisp and refreshing, with the alcohol not present. RJT

Draft at Old Mill. Pours hazy amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes like dry spices, dry roasted pumpkin, vegetable, and light pie sweetness. Light body and medium carbonation. Smells like sweet pumpkin pie, dry spices, and roasted vegetable.

Tap. Pours mostly clear gold with thin, fizzy head. Aroma is pumpkin, toasted malts, nutmeg, light floral notes, and light nuttiness. Flavor is dry malts, heavy spice that further dries things out, light squash/pumpkin notes, and faint woody bitterness. Light/medium body and medium carbonation.

Aroma isn’t strong with some spices. Taste is a blend of pumpkin and spice. Overall not the greatest pumpkin ale, but not the worst.

This is a bland beer w/ a bunch of spices or spice flavorings dumped in. Spice fans might like it but beer fans will probably not. It is a cloudy orange color and has a head of white, fine bubbles. It smells entirely of spice w/ nothing in particular popping out, just a mix of you standard cinnamon and pie spice. This is a medium bodied but a lack of flavor makes this come across as a bit watery. The carbonation is fine bubbled and prickly. There is a bit of malt flavor in the form of simple sweetness and it finishes a touch on the bitter side but this is very much a spice dominated brew w/ little more to offer. I guess if you are just dying for a spice beer, this will do. Otherwise, no matter where you are, there are certainly better options for beer fans.

Nice subtle pumpkin spice. I like that it was smooth and drinkable and not heavily or overpowering ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I read reviews here standing at the store and decided to try. I love pumpkin beers, not necessarily the sweet pumpkin pie varieties though. This one has the perfect amount of bitterness as described in so many reviews. Very good if you like that. Not too spicy, not too sweet. I’ll have it again if they still have it.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a very lightly hazed orange amber color with a one finger of white colored head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a great level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The beer has a nice spicy pumpkin pie aroma. There is a fairly large pumpkin spice aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice along with some sweeter aromas of caramel and brown sugar. Along with these smells comes some toasted malt and a decent showing of a roasted pumpkin smell. Taste – The taste begins much less sweet then would have been anticipated from the nose, beginning mainly of just a roasted pumpkin flavor mixed with some more toasted malt tastes. While dry upfront, there are some light notes of sweetness of caramel that is present and with some spice flavors of clove and nutmeg, which are also present upfront, it produces a very smooth pumpkin flavor on the tongue. As the taste advances the sweeter flavors fade a bit, with more pumpkin coming to the tongue, but in a more raw pumpkin like flavor. This raw pumpkin brings with it some vegetal notes and is also accompanied by some more spice of a cinnamon and clove nature. These flavors take the taste to its end, where a somewhat oddly leafy vegetal and drier pumpkin flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on thinner side overall with a carbonation level that was on the average side. The average carbonation was rather appropriate for the blend of pumpkin, spice, and light sweetness, but a slightly thicker body would have accentuated these flavors slightly better and would have helped to create a nicer mouth coating feel. Overall – An OK drier pumpkin ale. A decent try, but there are certainly better pumpkins to go too over this one.

Bottle@ trailer. Bright amber color with ivory head. Pumpkin meat, pie spice, pie crust, caramel aromas. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Phenolic, lightly bitter allspice, clove, pie spice flavors with mild pumpkin, and pie crust in a lightly sweet caramel base brew___good.

Not a bad beer. Not great either. I like the bitter taste but it does over take the pumpkin spices a tad too much
