COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Created in the tradition of Bavarian Holiday Wheat Bocks, with the added compliment of just a touch of smoked malt (rauchmalz) creating a very smooth, well balanced yet complex unique holiday offering.

Geez, I really thought they are on to something here. Poured with a nice medium sized tan head with almost no lace. Color is a medium to dark deep amber. Aroma is banana, peat, malt, spice. Flavor is dominated by sweetness, but also has smoke, spice. Body is ok and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor. Too sweet for me.

Mildly hazed amber with a pillowy beige slowly fadin head and a ring of lace. Aroma of grains, banana, caramel, clove and dough. After the first sip, I though horny goat might have actually made a winner, but this one had the law of diminishing returns down to a T. Taste of banana, clove, caramel, malts, aloe vera and grains. A touch of alcohol creeps in and as it warms it gets more and more syrupy and medicinal. Finishes with a strange peppery/medicinal combo that just isn’t good.

Bottled. Poured nearly-clear medium amber with a nice khaki head that settled fairly quickly. The aroma picked up bright, kind of syrupy bananas and smoke upfront, with candied caramel beneath.. I actually enjoyed the nose here. The flavor found mushy bananas, caramel, and some molasses at the core.. tangy, earthy wheat and smoke surrounded, and the smoke stuck on the warm finish.. they kept it interesting. Medium-bodied and tacky at times on the palate.. decent flow beyond that.. lower carbonation.. I’d drink this again.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered cloudy orange brown. Thin off-white head. Sugary aroma, some banana hefe action, but also some pungent harshness. Hmm..kind of awkward, the sweetness and the body are just so artificial compared to an authentic German version. An interesting mixture of flavors for sure, original I suppose. The smokiness is not pronounced, but certainly adds into the equation. Lacks subtlety and depth, but an interesting offering from the ever-shitty Stevens Point facility.

12 oz bottle pours to a deep cloudy reddish amber. Aroma is very intriguing. Smells of spices and citrus, orange and clove with cinnamon. Taste is less complex, with minimal spice and citrus and mild malty taste. Overall an ok seasonal. The aroma is different and exciting, but the taste doesn’t quite live up.

Picked up single 12-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in Shorewood, MN. Pours a hazy orange amber colored brew with a decent sized off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin film top and spotty lacing. Aroma of yeast, banana esters, a hint of clove, caramel malt, vanilla and a touch of bubblegum. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of multi-grain malt, some wheat, hint of corn, medicinal dry hops and some banana esters. Finish is semi-dry, metallic, medicinal with a slowly disappearing dry grassy hops and some yeast. Flavor profile is closer to a semi-dry dunkelweizen than a weizenbock.

This is a great brew. It has a great aroma and finishes with a bit of sweet smoke. Delicious.
